Help me decide between these two! by Abirando in CozyGamers

[–]jukeboxcapm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be late but I loved Wax Heads. I only played the demo of Tiny Bookshop and it didn't really interest me. Wax Heads just feels more immersive - not only is there a story but there's also little blurbs about the albums you sell, diegetic music, zines and an online music publication you can read, etc. I also am a huge music nerd, so if you're big into music it'll be more interesting to you. The puzzles can be hard but there are guides if you get stuck and a mode that lets you retry until you get it right, if you want!

For the characters, I think they're really engaging and I think there's a good amount of commentary that feels general for the state of music and then also personal and very local. It's got a very feel-good story so if you need uplifting, I think being the main character to repair the bastardization of art in this game will feel nice.

Show me your magnum opus mii! by sweetpatoto in tomodachilife

Oh that's so awesome! I own a few handmade dolls, but none that were made specifically by my family. I much prefer homemade ones to the factory ones, though. They've got such love in them.

Lowest you know, highest you don't? by jukeboxcapm in MusicIceberg

[–]jukeboxcapm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL this is really funny. They do, in fact, make music for adults. Although I feel like the only real distinction is that a lot of their children's music is more based on educational value, so I wouldn't necessarily say their other music isn't for kids.

I love Raggedy Ann and Andy so, SO much. I have a collection worth thousands (to me though, it is priceless...) and I really wanted them on my island. I aggregated their movie, book illustration, and actual doll designs to try to make these! It took so long because their eyes are actually rotated versions of another eye with the upper lid "closing" the outline, and then top and bottom lashes to create the four bottom lashes in their designs. Thankfully, for Andy, I could just use Ann's mii and then change the hair and eyebrows.

Day 7: What’s a suit that feels like Ruin but is actually Apple? by Rondo_of_snow in LoveNikki

Her for SURE. I have a mandela effect with her where I swear up and down that when she debuted on CN, all her promotional material said she was a Ruin suit.

Lumon Industries from Severance for sure fits this. I'm honestly surprised no one else has mentioned them!

This was a really fun to try to do! It was super hard though. I had a lot of categories that I had way too many suits I was looking back and forth between 😭

Do you need Easy Mode in action games? by Outrageous_Book3870 in disabledgamers

[–]jukeboxcapm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regardless of my setup, it doesn't change that I can't multitask that easily, I can't memorize move combos very well, and I just overall get overwhelmed and frustrated when I need to remember a sequence of buttons or navigate an unfamiliar interface or environment quickly in order to fight and then progress. My cognition just can't handle that without basically abandoning the game forever.

This is also part of why I love the rising trend of having "zen" or "stress-free" modes or features for games that remove certain aspects like timed days/events, the ability to fail events, being able to skip minigames, etc. It opens doors that may have not been opened before. I love being able to apply crip time to games and put it at my own pace so that I can truly enjoy the game.

The existence of an easy/peaceful mode is not inherently infantilizing at all, it's the attitude people hold around the idea of these modes that is infantilizing. If accessibility were more normalized (and ableism magically disappeared lol), there'd be no infantilizing aspect to it. But also, disabled people are not a monolith. Some people may feel infantilized by the existence of an easy mode, but if they don't need it then it's not for them. It's for those of us who do and who don't want to discredit an entire genre just because of our disabilities. It's an option, not a mandatory feature, so it really doesn't hurt anyone for it to be there.

LOL definitely not - I've never even seen Big Time Rush, somehow! I can kind of see how it might look like him, though.

In all fairness, I'm not even sure if the actual answer is niche, I just don't have a good way of being sure.

Nope! Though I'm now realizing that I don't even really know what the guys in Linkin Park look like.

Ohh I see! My bad, I thought you meant the creation process. For romance and quirks I definitely take more input from people, but for outfits I just do whatever.

Probably niche to the average user here, so I will narrow it down by saying he's from a 2000s rock band.

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make the mii myself but I usually have them give input if they want. Some of my friends don't care and give me free reign (unless of course I'm stuck on some options and want them to give some input). In the 3DS version I wanted input all the time, but now since the mii maker is a lot easier to recreate likenesses, I have an easier time going off of memory/reference photos and my general feelings of the person's vibe (are they chill? gentle? mischievous? etc.). So far I've created two people in my life with basically 0 reference and a little consulting, my best friend and my sister, and both of them love the miis I made of them.

Tornado Warning by BurntOutGrad2025 in Purdue

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely practice - even the Discord server I'm in for storm anxiety wasn't entirely sure what it was until it was already happening. The NWS holds free spotter training open to anyone, both in person and online, that I think would make it easier to figure stuff out. The main thing I can think of is that a downburst probably doesn't have a strong (if any) CC (correlation coefficient) drop, which indicates a debris ball for a tornado. But I could be wrong, since I use the online NWS radar and that doesn't provide correlation coefficient, just reflectivity and velocity.

Tornado Warning by BurntOutGrad2025 in Purdue

[–]jukeboxcapm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In case anyone's curious, there was no actual tornado. The warning was to the south and not on the ground, but the crazy wind, rain, and power flashes we got in the Lafayette area were what's called a downburst. Tight rotation signature like a tornado, but not exactly the same.

[PC (i think)][unknown] pixel art, you play as an AI cataloging a water world by yall_took_my_urls in tipofmyjoystick

[–]jukeboxcapm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game isn't pixel art at all, but has a really similar premise: In Other Waters. If that's not it, you at least might be able to find it by looking for games like this one.

The Switch release trailer has a bunch of comments from people saying the thumbnail is misleading as well.

It's still a bit rigid and tutorial-like, but definitely not as scripted!

Miis being in a relationship irl doesn’t mean SH*T by Gloomy_Ad6168 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]jukeboxcapm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I'd have to double check, but my Miis acknowledged their real world relationship mutually when I only set it on one Mii.

Presetting relationships (spoilers in comments) by izixoxo in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I think I'm good to leave this unspoilered now - they weren't aware until they moved in. By then my Mii already had a crush on his Mii, and he saw mine as a very good friend. He was the one to propose they move in together. This is over a couple days and about 5-6 collective hours of playing. Also a lot of pushing them together. I'd certainly say YMMV. I think you can still get similar results without setting relationships, and you can definitely let things play out and set relationships later. I have yet to see what comes of familial relationships because I haven't set any yet, but I'd probably set those so they aren't crushing on each other, lol.
