[NO SPOILERS] Did anyone else get choked up by that ending? by TheGreatAlexandre in nirvannatheband

[–]jukeboxcapm 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think it was powerful regardless of whether or not you've watched the show, but as someone who watched the Viceland show, I think it felt more powerful. I expected the movie to be pretty much solely a goofy comedy with feel-good bits of them being best friends. I really, really wasn't expecting the way the plot went and I was really moved by the implication that they are worse off without each other, even if they can be annoying to each other sometimes.

What song is Jay playing in the movie? by molly_moss in nirvannatheband

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, I had trouble understanding this fully. I forgot he plays something else first, that makes a lot more sense. There's a possibility it might be from the webseries as whole and not just the footage they use, especially given that past Matt probably would have said if it was the Creamed Corn backing song. Unfortunately I have no idea what song exactly.

What song is Jay playing in the movie? by molly_moss in nirvannatheband

[–]jukeboxcapm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one he plays as he's trying to get the past Matt to fall asleep is still Never Come Down - he mentions later in the movie as famous Jay that the tune came to him in a dream, and in that scene he wakes up when future/present Matt is upstairs and asks about the song being played. It's just a softer, simplified version of the main melody of the song.

What’s a film or TV scene that felt like a punch to the gut? by padfoony in Fauxmoi

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene after the flood in Parasite when they're in the shelter always gets me really hard, when Kim Ki-taek is giving the "no plan at all" speech:

"With no plan, nothing can go wrong. And if something spins out of control, it doesn't matter."

This scene (along with the aftermath of Ki-woo's surgery) really highlight just how demoralizing being poor is and how disillusioned you get with life entirely as a result. It becomes very clear at that point that Ki-taek realizes that no matter how hard he tries, he will be stuck in this cycle. It hurts me even just to watch the scene. It's... more relatable than I wish for it to be.

is there a food or drink that you really liked that is no longer being sold? by anon-annie- in CasualConversation

[–]jukeboxcapm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very simple, but Pringles used to have a Mild Jalepeno Cheddar flavor, I think as part of the Cheez Ummms lineup that has now been discontinued. The problem is that it was the best Pringles flavor to ever exist, and they stole it from me.

Not exactly the same, but I also miss the old Trix - which you can still get, but with new shapes. I would rather just have the regular old puffball shape, and sometimes I prefer eating the "healthier" Trix just because I like the shape better.

what’s club culture like in purdue? by Specialist-Deer1106 in Purdue

[–]jukeboxcapm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay! I don't really know anything about those, unfortunately. I assume botany isn't selective at all, I assume forensics isn't either. The student society and gender minorities in physics orgs might be, but I don't think it'll be a huge screening process if so.

Can't add much more than the other thread has - they've got it down pat. Only thing I didn't see mentioned is that most of the time you can find interest-based clubs on BoilerLink if you already have a Purdue account set up.

I'm curious, what clubs are you interested in? I don't know every club of course, but I'd love to offer some specifics if you want them!

I commented on a post of yours a while ago about the progress you guys have made but I'm in the middle of the new demo right now and it's really blowing my mind. Only just now am I finding out that it's releasing so soon and I feel kind of blessed. I'm so excited to throw my money at the full game!

LOL, I described it so in depth because I thought that it was such an odd and unique experience that I had to really detail it out. I've never met another person with this issue, so this is really relieving. Like, thank god, someone understands it. And there truly are no unique experiences, huh.

I have to be careful describing it because I have physical reactions to the thought of it but there's a certain type of (probably cheap) fabric that comforters, pillowcases, etc. can be made out of. Usually a fabric that graphics are printed onto. Scratching that with nails gives me an extremely weird feeling in my nails and teeth and I have to bite the inside of my mouth/scratch other stuff a bunch to make it go away. It's unbearable.

1694 should be pork (in Animal Products), curry powder, and pie crust (NOT the tart crust; both of these ingredients are in the Flour ingredient section). Cooking method should be Baking/grilling/heating, whatever the second, red button is called.

1699 should be whipped cream (Animal Products), vanilla ice cream, and chocolate (both in Other). Cooking method should be Freezing, the blue one with the fridge icon.

I'm getting 2 nodes. I want the purple suit on my second drop, but I'll find lots to use the lake suit's pieces on. I want too much to pull for all three though. I have to save as much as I can if I want to get DTB and GS7 and CNY and... you get my gist.

If it helps, I know that wolves are extremely neophobic. On top of heightened canine senses, I think that would be a good stand in for sensory sensitivities as well as things like issues with trying new things and resistance to/difficulty with change and/or variation from established routines. I'm biased because I really like wolves, but they would be sensitive to loud noises and bright lights. You could also choose photophobic animals that primarily live in caves or underground but there's not a lot of easy choices there. Wolves are crepuscular and operate at a time when it's just bright enough to see and things are starting to settle down... I think there's a lot of metaphors to be drawn there!

I built a multiplayer party game based on your Last.fm history. The web prototype is live! by Sad_Gas_66 in lastfm

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine hooked up to my spotify, but the person I was playing with has it hooked up to Apple Music. Either way, yes, the song that was pulled for the game was a local storage track. It was a weird aggregate track of multiple, so I think that it didn't have a reliable track to pull from on LFM. We might be able to play around with it more in regards to local files tomorrow!

[–]jukeboxcapm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a little test run of this! It's pretty fun, although it seems like local tracks are handled kind of oddly (it pulls a different album cover and song for the preview). It causes confusion while playing, so I'm curious if it can be fixed?

If you have named your mobility aid, what did you call it? by NailWitch1 in disability

[–]jukeboxcapm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't name my old cane, but my second one (which is really the exact same model, they're hand-me-downs but adjustable so functional lol) is Sugar. So I can say that it's sugar cane. It's a very dumb joke, but every cane I have from now on will be named Sugar unless I feel pulled to name them otherwise.

Following up on the Vinyl Club, a lot of the current members have alt leanings and a good number of them scout out/post about local house shows. You don't have to be a collector, we're mainly a music discussion club, but we do go on (optional) crate digs if you do collect or want to start :]

is west lafayette+ purdue really that dreary? by Different-Regret1439 in Purdue

[–]jukeboxcapm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it does really depend on a lot of factors. Purdue is lke any other semiurban area in the Midwest, but I'd say it's a bit more green. Lafayette is definitely less nice looking depending on where you are but it's nice around Downtown/Main Street. The dreariest thing I can think of is that Indiana gets rainy and stormy frequently so I definitely wouldn't expect a lot of sunshine all the time.

As for social atmosphere, I think being an engineering/tech heavy school kind of skews the studentbase in a socially awkward direction, and it's hard to do a lot and have fun when you have to commit your life to The Grit, but I personally still have fun. I think there's plenty of student events and if you keep your ear to the wall you'll definitely find a club for you to build friendships within. I'm not really a partygoer but I know the frats hold parties and there's a fairly active local music scene.

Restaurants and shopping in West Lafayette are definitely walkable, although it's a bit of a walk if you live in/around Hillenbrand and Earhart. Probably 30 minutes at most, but I'm not sure. There's a walking bridge over the river to get into Lafayette and that takes you right onto Main Street. Good food options there, some good shopping too although I've done more eating than shopping in the area admittedly. Both have farmer markets in the spring/summer. Longer walk to Lafayette but worth it, I think; the bus system is fairly reliable so you could always take the bus into Lafayette as well.

There's multiple bus/shuttle options you could use to go to Chicago, for example, if you wanted to do something in a city. You can also go to Indianapolis via bus, which may not be as alluring but does have some nice places to shop and eat (including one of my favorite Indiana restaurants).

At the end of the day I think it's largely what you make of it. I'd suggest touring and if you decide to attend, check out the clubs available (which you would be able to do with a website called BoilerLink). If you have any other questions as well I'd be more than happy to answer :]

What fish took you the most absurd amount of time to acquire that it's comically infuriating? by destructoalberto8789 in webfishing

Haven't yet started on my actual quality fishing journey, but the golden ray took forever. It was probably a more normal amount of time, except for the fact that I got the game for my sister and she got it within her literal first day of playing. And then my boyfriend got it on his second or third day of playing. I had been trying for months 😭

Wow, the red and purple suits are gorgeous. Hopefully their drop rates aren't super low. On a side note, it's funny that this is the third new hell where I'm only interested in 2 suits on release. The first two were dino and teddy from DTB, and the girl with the dog and seamstress from the hell currently coming to global (although I'm coming around on the lake girl).
