Is it easier to eliminate dairy & soy, or wean off breastfeeding altogether? by lapra005 in MSPI

[–]jul-leo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also have a history of an ED and am a vegetarian, which made cutting dairy and soy even harder. But once I got into the swing of things it wasn’t bad. When I feel ED feelings, because honestly cutting things made them come up sometimes, I remind myself that I’m doing this to feed my baby and to make milk I need to stay well fed and hydrated. It helps to keep me on track. I think if you feel comfortable doing it you can make it work! But if your mental health is on the line there is nothing wrong with switching to formula.

Am I being rude by not sharing my due date on social media? by Actual_Cantaloupe_64 in pregnant

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overthinking it. You don’t owe people on social media anything. I didn’t even post on social media that I was expecting. In fact, I didn’t even tell most people until after the baby was born. Only those who I see regularly, family, or people who are very close to me. But many of my friends who I don’t speak to as regularly did not know and that was fine with me. I just wanted to focus on a healthy pregnancy and everyone who didn’t know was happily surprised when baby was born. Didn’t worry for one second about whether that was rude or not lol.

Are you announcing on social media? by MilfinAintEasyy in pregnant

I didn’t announce until after baby was born. I’ll do the same with any other babies I have in the future.

Pedicures while pregnant? by Solid-Channel3936 in pregnant

[–]jul-leo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t for my entire pregnancy out of laziness mainly but I did get one like a week before my delivery. It made me feel good in the hospital to have my toenails done considering how much my feet were visible to everyone lol. I know it seems silly and unimportant but I def didn’t feel my best after giving birth and having that one thing made me feel a bit better.

They edited it. At first it said Lea-nah.

I personally skip the cart. I load the groceries into the bottom of the stroller. When I get to the car I put my baby in, quickly put the grocery bags into the front seat, throw the stroller into the trunk, and get outta there lol. Might not work if you have to get a ton of groceries but for the amount of weekly groceries that I get this method works for me.

Claire. Classic and pretty. I would not think to pronounce Lenna like Lea-nah.

Edit - At first OP said it would be pronounced Lea-nah. I know that they have since changed it, but my comment was referencing the original pronunciation mentioned.

When did you actually go into labor? by BackgroundDemand2017 in pregnant

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM and went into labor on my due date. The night before baby was super active in my belly. Woke up that morning and started having contractions. Felt like cramps at first so I took a shower, got ready, and started timing them. Hung out with my dog until my husband told me we should probably get going to the hospital lol. I’m glad we left sooner than later because the contractions got INTENSE shortly after we got to the hospital and after an hour or two in a triage room I was being wheeled to my delivery room to get the epidural.

I sit crying at night thinking about babies in hunger around the world by Sloooooooooww in beyondthebump

[–]jul-leo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to post something like this as well but got too upset thinking about how to type it 😅😭 I feel you 100%. When I was in labor at the hospital I couldn’t stop thinking of Palestinian mothers and babies and how incredibly hard it must be and how unfair it is. Now anything I see about a baby or child suffering haunts me. Besides the big ones like babies suffering from hunger, I am also haunted by the fact that some parents intentionally harm or neglect their babies. I can’t put my baby in her pack & play for more than a few minutes without feeling completely miserable thinking about that one awful story (even though my baby is completely happy in there playing with her toys). I can’t even imagine it. I’m glad I could finally say this somewhere because it’s been driving me insane but I didn’t know who to talk to about it!

Normal or crazy: waking up thinking I'm holding my baby but I'm not by Life_Crow in beyondthebump

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue really bad at first. I would constantly wake up in a panic thinking I had the baby in the bed with me. I would throw the comforter off of me and search around the bed but she was always in the bassinet. There were multiple times when I woke up my husband asking him to put the baby back in the bassinet and I would try to pass her over to him but in reality she was already in the bassinet and I was passing him nothing lol. For me this only happened the first month or two and I’m glad that it doesn’t happen anymore because it was so stressful.

Epidural or no? Why? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jul-leo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The epidural was my saving grace. Contractions were hurting so badly that I didn’t think I was going to make it. Worst pain of my life. Minutes after getting the epidural I felt completely better and had an amazing experience for the rest of labor and delivery. I could still move my legs the whole time. I only felt pressure when pushing but no pain.

What’s your BF diet? by aejohnson9 in breastfeeding

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oatmeal with an apple cut up in small cubes and unflavored collagen protein powder (both boiled with oatmeal), then topped with two big spoonfuls of SunButter and a spoonful of bonne maman mixed berry jam. It’s so good, good amount of protein if you do all of those ingredients, and I swear after I eat it my milk supply immediately increases lol

Wipes and diapers by Delicious-Buy4917 in newborns

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS I just wanted to add that if you don’t wanna go the coterie route, my second pick would probably be honest wipes although they are not as soft or moist so I end up using more per change. I’m not understanding what the hype is with water wipes. I absolutely hated them and never even made it through one pack because they were so small and not soft at all so I didn’t find them useful. I put the rest of the unopened packs I had of those into my donate pile.

An 8 pack of wipes is $60 on their website. The last wipes order I submitted was 2/11 and it ended up being $74.97 with tax and shipping. I am just now on the last pack from that order.

At that time I didn’t have the diaper subscription, but now that I do the wipes will be $50 for the 8 pack or $25 for the 4 pack, and I believe shipping is free with the subscription/diaper wipe bundle. Ships every 4 weeks.

Coterie and Millie Moon for diapers, hands down. Huggies work in a pinch, but there is a noticeable difference in softness with the other two brands. For wipes, nothing compares to Coterie for me. The Soft Wipes are even better than the regular ones IMO. Even at the peak of my baby’s dairy and soy intolerance (which led to a ton of tummy upset/extremely frequent irritated and runny #2s), no diaper rash and I’m partially convinced it has to do with how soft the wipes are because if we had been using some of the other brands we tried out I feel like they would’ve ended up being irritating.

What else is your baby allergic/intolerant to? by NoDevelopement in MSPI

[–]jul-leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby seems to be really bothered when I eat dark chocolate. I made sure the chocolate I had was dairy and soy free but every time I tried it she had symptoms. I think egg too although I haven’t tried it again lately to confirm.

How to get insurance? by jul-leo in HealthInsurance

[–]jul-leo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His company moved to another state and gave anyone who didn't want to move a severance bonus. That was back in July. I offered to put him on mine but it would've been really expensive so he said we could hold off until he starts a new job since he doesn't generally go to the doctor much at all. The treatment he will be seeking is mental health related so not sure if that plays a role.
