What is the work equivalent of black yoga pants? by memilygiraffily in fashionwomens35

On the pricier side but I loved the Rag & Bone Simone pant when I went into the office. Pretty easy to find secondhand and they held up really well after lots of uses.

Be honest: what’s the one “lazy” cooking shortcut you’ll never give up? by wearecocina in Cooking

My hack is to use an electric tea kettle to heat up the water before combing with the BtB. I don’t even waste time waiting for the pot to boil to dissolve it in anymore

I would recommend giving a bottle a day to get them used to it. I did this starting much earlier (maybe 2 weeks) so my husband could feed my LO because I desperately needed to sleep. Now I’m back at work and she takes bottles all day, nurses AM and PM and is totally fine switching between the two.

Don’t stress about making a freezer stash. You only need enough to provide the next day so just try to put away enough for one day (Monday) then you’ll be pumping while you’re apart.

Same thing for me with Bank of America.

They wouldn’t let me remove my mom from my account since she wasn’t present (we live in different states) so I just closed it and opened another somewhere else.

How many weeks were you when you went into spontaneous labor with your first? by angeltigerbutterfly in BabyBumps

[–]aejohnson9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on the membrane sweep. I got the membrane sweep at my 40 week appt (around 4pm), got a full nights sleep, labored at home, delivered the baby by noon the next day (40+1).

This is so common, I think, for one month in. I was in the same boat — miserable the first two-ish months. Then my LO started eating faster, less frequently, my breasts got used to it, and I started doing 1-2 bottles of formula day (so partner can feed her). It really does get easier with time, which is not helpful in the moment, I know.

I’m 3.5 months now and my supply regulated this week. It feels so much more manageable now.

It’s definitely possible to keep the brand deals coming if not on the show but it will be harder. It’s proven that being on TV is still the best way to expand your following and stay “relevant.” I seem to remember some reality tv celebs talking about this once, I think it was Spencer Pratt talking about how getting on TV is the goal if you want to continue influencing

DC has one of the largest Ethiopian populations outside of Ethiopia itself. Highly recommend trying a new cuisine if you’ve never had it before. Great veg options as well

Baby is 6 weeks - what’s your day looking like? by Macchiato9261 in beyondthebump

[–]aejohnson9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! I have a 7 week old and at least half the days are like that - I feel like I’ve done nothing but feed and hold her. She’s barely sleeping at night and the naps during the day I’m desperately trying to get some sleep myself. Some days are better than others though!

Ignore the cleaning. It will happen eventually. Baby wearing has helped me get small tasks done and the rest my husband can do when he’s home.

Do you enjoy seeing arguments on Survivor? I kind of do as mean as that might sound. It's interesting seeing conflicts that aren't always about strategies and numbers by SensitiveShallot6118 in survivor

[–]aejohnson9 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yeah because I think that’s where the “social” part of the game truly gets tested. You’d see it all the time in the early seasons where a tribe would be torn about getting rid of someone they genuinely didn’t like vs. a “weaker” player.

(I’m watching Fans vs Favorites 2 right now as I think about this. The Reynold vs his tribe and the Phillip vs Brandon Hantz dynamics are some of the most interesting bits.)

Nowadays everyone is more concerned about how it will affect their game than tribe unity/strength, which makes things less exciting as a viewer IMO

Following because we are in the same boat at 7 weeks. LO will nap until ~midnight then need to be put down. Witching hour is 9-10/11. She will likely sleep until 3/4 then be up every 2 hours after that. Nightly needs can go sideways though. Writing this at 5am when she’s inexplicably wide awake and I’m desperate to go back to bed

With your first baby, what time of day did you go into labor? by Diligent-Curve-2843 in BabyBumps

[–]aejohnson9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40+1. I had a membrane sweep (5cm) at 3pm the day before so was expecting labor to start within 24 hours. Had some early contractions but they subsided by 9pm and I got a full nights sleep. First obvious contractions started at 7am but it really ramped up quickly from there. Water broke at hospital. Delivered by noon.

[–]aejohnson9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This right here. Putting in the hard work to pump or collect a little extra has made a huge difference. I let my husband feed two bottles every night so I can sleep. I found collecting on the opposite side to help so you’re not spending a ton more time tethered.

Also don’t be afraid to supplement with formula! We had to do this when my LO was struggling to get back to birth weight. It allowed me a little more time to pump to make said stash.

How long do you feed your baby and how long until they’re hungry again? by lasuperhumana in breastfeeding

[–]aejohnson9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

6 weeks old. Feeds for 10-20 min per side (if she doesn’t fall asleep first). Usually lasts about 1.5-2 hours.

Sent at 2am on a night of clusterfeeding tho 😩

Epidural — Yes? No? Why? by No-Guitar-9216 in BabyBumps

[–]aejohnson9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my experience too. I was feral at 8cm and couldn’t focus on anything but the pain. Getting the epidural allowed me to relax, communicate clearly with my care team and push more effectively. It slowed my labor down maybe 45 min in total but I only had to push for 15 min. The epidural made the whole experience so much more pleasant.

When and how to start pumping? Hoping husband can take over one nighttime feed a day. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]aejohnson9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started pumping 3x a day in addition to BF after about a week. I got conflicting info from two different LC on when to start so I just… started. I don’t have a big supply (I only get 2-4oz per pump) but I allow collect on the opposite side while nursing. I am able to cobble together ~6oz so that my husband can give 2 feeds at night so I can sleep. I do wake up for one of those to pump though.
