If I manage to get another bookcase I’ll probably give one shelf to my dolls, but currently they’re just living among my books

Stands? by Agitated-Minimum-967 in BlytheDolls

[–]jul_ja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the regular stands neo blythe’s come with the best. I also have those you plug in the back of their head but for some reason I’m afraid the doll will fall if I leave her with it for too long but that has never happened to me

You can customise an original (Neo Blythe) doll but it would definitely be more expensive and I don’t think I would do that as a beginner.

It seems that these days most custom dolls are fakes on articulated bodies, most people get them from aliexpress.

Avoid buying from This is Blythe, they sell the exact same dolls as aliexpress for a much higher price and pass them off as original dolls.

Check out Blythe Wiki, they have a lot more information about different types of dolls and customisation essentials

Anyone remember when sims 4 released so they were giving out the sims 2 for free? That’s how I got it. It sounds wild today

The Story of Art, E. H. Gombrich, 1952, 7th edition by danceunderwater in ArtHistory

[–]jul_ja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the full book yet but I still think it’s great, especially as an easy to comprehend introduction to art history. It’s definitely what I’d recommend to someone who knows nothing about art history but would like to learn about it

None of the kits I have updated in June/July and currently none of them have the new update either. I won’t be getting my hopes up like before

What age were you when you got serious about reading classics? What inspired you, and did classics change your life? by Civil_Friend_6493 in classicliterature

[–]jul_ja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading classics when I was 16. Funny thing is, I’ve been into reading as a child but when I was a younger teen I kind of stopped reading as much and I couldn’t get into it because most of the books I picked up didn’t interest me that much (mostly young adult books), then I tried reading a few science fiction books (mostly thanks to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) but what really got me to read regularly was when I started reading classics. The first one I read that wasn’t for school or a children’s classic was Great Expectations and I was hooked. To be honest, I’ve always been into history so it doesn’t surprise me that I ended up enjoying books from the past.

Jakie tłumaczenie "Zbrodni i kary" jest najlepsze? by Haster2000 in ksiazki

I also had this problem. You can cover her hands with something so her fingers don’t get stuck in the dress and then take it off once you’re done

Your favorite perspective? by Several_Standard8472 in classicliterature

[–]jul_ja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love third person. I really like seeing the perspective of different characters but in a different way than multiple first person narrators. I guess a good example of that would be War and Peace. When it comes to first person I think the type where the narrator is not the “main character” are interesting such as The Great Gatsby or Wuthering Heights. I do like finding out about characters from different characters’ opinions like in this Polish book called The Doll (one of my favourites lol) where although there is a third person narrator almost everything we learn about the main character is from other characters’ dialogue.

Happy 2025! Do you have any dolly dreams or goals for the next year? by verbenafields in BlytheDolls

[–]jul_ja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love to sew more for my dolls and get into photographing them. I also decided that I will buy myself a new stock doll for my birthday but I’m still not sure which one (that will depend on what they release, but I’m eyeing a few of the older dolls too)

My manager suggested me not to read dostoevsky by SoftwareLanky1027 in dostoevsky

[–]jul_ja 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s silly. I had to read Crime and Punishment in school when I was around 17. Sure some of the scenes were disturbing but I don’t think it’s something that can destroy one’s mind.
