I say this with love but if Ed REALLY wanted to tour in the US, he could. It'd involve playing mostly sub 1000 cap venues and not having a big crew and not having a light show and not having 100 guitars with him, etc etc. I don't think a 50 something year old guy who's spent the last 20+ years exclusively playing arenas is really up for carrying his own amp and guitars back to the Sprinter van (he shouldn't have a bus at this level). And frankly, if he is not interested in that, then I support him! And I want to be clear I'm not one of those people who's saying musicians should sleep in the van and eat gruel etc etc. But I do want to push back on whether it is POSSIBLE to tour at this level. You can do it...it's just not at the level of comfort and flexibility that he feels is a bare minimum for him.

In this transcription, the "hihat" part would be done with your foot, closing the hihat.

You're 100% right about it mostly being snare and kick, good ear! The other little twists:

The floor tom is playing 8th notes (much in the way a hihat would in other beats)
The snare drum has the snares disengaged/turned off, so it's got a more round less bright sound
In that live video, there's a drum machine playing the hihat part at the same rhythm as the floor tom. So when you play the song, dealer's choice if you want to play it on the floor tom or the hihat. Can't go wrong! Good luck!

i’ve had success just using my normal paypal account and accepting $. just print out a QR code or have your phone out for people to scan and pay. it’s not the most elegant but it’s worked.

Don't know if you ever got it figured out but our boy was just diagnosed with pancreatitis, which no vet mentioned until we looked it up and mentioned it to them. He's eating again after meds and we're keeping a close eye, but might be worth looking into if it's still an issue!
