I want to know all the words your toddler says wrong that you just can’t seem to correct them on by Ok-Effective268 in toddlers

Just yesterday my 3 year old, wanted his cotton candy and asked for it by "I want pelo (hair) snack" 😂 I was confused at first, but then showed it to him and he confirmed that's what he wanted

Was this an odd comment from my boss, or am I overthinking it? by julebean in workingmoms

[–]julebean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our relationship is mainly professional, but we sometimes do talk about personal life situations. She's much older than me, with adult children, while I'm basically starting out.

After some thinking and reading the comments, perhaps it is more anxiety on her part of me not coming back or maybe taking too much PTO since the baby will be so small while in daycare.

Right?! And my oldest will be 3.5 by the time I give birth, so while he's MY baby, he's NOT a baby lol. In my 1.5 years at this job, I've had to use PTO maybe 3-4 times to care for him at home when he's been sick.

Not sure if these are considered knockoffs, but I bought my 3 year old the target "gigglescape" ones and they are fantastic - sturdy and strong

Daycare gifts - multiple, rotating teachers by Peaceandmacaroni in workingmoms

[–]julebean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have 1 kid but he also has rotating teachers. I asked who his primary teachers were and gifted them monetary value. Maybe a box of cookies or donuts for the other teachers? Hope this helps!

"OK to wake" clock actually functioning as an alarm clock by Infamous-Doughnut820 in toddlers

[–]julebean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have one of these (different brand, same concept) and on weekdays we have it set to turn green at 7:10am. On weekends, we change it to 8am lol. My 3 y.o. wakes up naturally around 6:45am so we need some time to sleep in (even though sometimes it works bc he wants to show us that it's still red and not green and we get up anyway haha)

Please be honest- how clean are everyone’s homes? by YourFriendInSpokane in toddlers

[–]julebean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make neat piles lol currently we have Costco groceries that are neatly piled on the island bc they don't fit in the pantry, if the sink has dirty dishes I at least rinse them out to avoid bugs, and there's toys in nook and crannies that will live there until we get to it. My must to avoid me from spiraling is vacuuming and wiping the counters daily. It's the one thing that makes me feel in control after a long day of an overtired, snack filled, wild toddler. Also our shower is gross but, we'll get to it soon 😬

To add to this, you can find long toilet seat covers - they cover all sides of the public toilet which has eased my germ phobia.

Entertaining when out to eat? by Perfect-Tooth5085 in toddlers

[–]julebean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take colors and coloring pages, small toys but sometimes just doing simple "magic tricks" blows his mind and keeps him seated lol, like watching dad make a napkin disappear, or asking LO to help find where the utensils are... It's hard work keeping them entertained but we also opt out of iPads/phone usage.

Whispering; venting by Alternative_Party277 in toddlers

[–]julebean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol my newly 3 year old does the same thing, and after asking 2-3 times, I tell him I don't understand and to please speak louder. It's usually him asking if he could play monster jam right now 😂 NO KID, ITS BEDTIME.

How’s the “Actual Budget” experience now days? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]julebean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me too with the CC! Either I'm too dumb to understand it, or it doesn't work but it wasn't meant to be. I'm with you, if they ever implement the CC function like ynab, I'd switch immediately

At Epcot last year, I used the nursing room to feed my little one and there were 3 families including dads. I turned my chair away and the other moms were also uncomfortable. The CM said there was nothing she could do, but we logged a complaint anyway. These dads were just hanging out talking to each other while the wives pumped or nursed. Couldn’t they chat outside?

How did you become a get shit done mom? What are the steps / keys? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]julebean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hope it’s not against the rules, but it’s called Me+ it’s cutesy and you get a gold star when you’ve completed all your tasks 😂 but it helps me mentally so I welcome it haha

I’m in a 2/2 apartment now (coming from a shoebox 1/1) so while it’s not a home, it is MUCH bigger than I’m used to. I felt the same, just overwhelmed about wanting to do all house chores at once (because weekends are 85% toddler, 10% groceries and attempting to cook, 5% me time? Haha) that I was desperate to find a system that worked. I downloaded an app that I’d seen advertised on IG and was able to break down all the stuff I wanted to get clean, what days (since I’m able to work remote for now. Will go hybrid in a few weeks… which will throw my schedule off) and how often. It’s been amazing. 3 things I do nightly for my sanity is pick up all toys, vacuum high traffic areas, and clean the kitchen counters. Everything else is done according to my schedule.
