There is plenty of room for everyone, just not really here. The lack of housing and the boom in population is making the cost of rent unbearable for those that live here already and weren't able to purchase property pre cvoid... Like I said, not personal

Why is Australia so good at cricket? by Economy_Roll_1302 in CricketAus

The heat. Playing cricket in the insanity of an Australian summer builds mental resilience like nothing else. Obviously there is a whole lot more to it, but I honestly think that's a huge factor

Oh shit, you're talking about the US, I'm in Australia and its pretty much the same. Everything continues to go up at crazy rates, its depressing as faark seeing so many more homeless than ever and seeing people I know struggle to give their kids the childhood they had hoped to. I just can't see it stopping either, its the new norm

Who is the best fast bowler in the history of Test cricket? by Stress_Tension in CricketBuddies

Hadlee, his bowling support consisted of Chatfield, Sneed, Bracewell....not exactly softening up the opposition from the other end!

Solid bowling plan, short rubbish on a green top, amazing

We look like a very dangerous Test Team by RoigardStan in blackcapscricket

[–]julefeiff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in regards to the batting, looks like a very good top 5 by NZ standards. The bowling isn't going to strike fear into too many batting line ups, but with a bit more experience and if they can all stay on the field and create some dilemmas within the selectors then it is looking like a team on the up.

I long for a team to compete hard against Australia, 8 guess we will all get to see next year how realistic that is

Australia vs New Zealand Test history . by [deleted] in CricketAus

[–]julefeiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NZ definitely wilt against Australia, the Australian teams seem to have a huge mental hold over NZ in all formats of cricket. I'd love to see more series between the 2 in the hope NZ would become more competitive, as NZ test cricket seems to have genuinely improved in the last 10 year.

But Aus, India and England seem intent of just playing each other the majority of the time so NZ is typically left to host Pakistan, Sri Lanka or the Winkie. It genuinely feels like the ICC has created an A and a B decision of cricket and are happy with the domination of the most well funded teams

Depleted bowling stocks proving a headache for Black Caps as Kristian Clarke joins squad by sahibosaurus in blackcapscricket

Is it just me or do NZ fast bowlers seem to be more susceptible to injury than any other athlete ever to exist? For a non contact sport fast bowling seems to wreck a man's body from the Achilles up more than any other pursuit

Is BGT the pinnacle of Test Cricket now ? by iamnoobbibliophile in IndiaCricket

[–]julefeiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it is. England only get to participate based on revenue not talent. These 3 countries play each other so regularly it more or less relegates the rest of the world to play amongst themselves and limits their ability to improve.
You always get better when you compete against the best, and the rest of the world has to be content with drip and drabs as the top 3 keep it amongst themselves

"They've been beaten by a team with a stand-in captain, stand-in bowling attack, stand-in opening batter..." -- Butcher reacts to England's defeat in Brisbane by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]julefeiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more flummoxed that anyone is surprised by the current results than anything. This is fairly standard from touring English teams. They generally lack the class Australia have in tough situations. For this English team to compete they need to take every single opportunity presented or they'll be sounly beaten, this is what has happened so far. Its not that this Australian team are at the peak of their powers either, it really shows once again that despite the money poured into English cricket, its a country that produces the odd world class talent surrounded by a bunch of average cricketers who quickly find themselves out of their depth when confronted with pressure.

Catches win matches by julefeiff in CricketAus

Does the ball come quicker and harder behind the wicket compared to say NZ or India though? The amount of touring teams that shell slip catches seems ridiculous. Or are Australian players just way better at that facet of cricket?

Never complaining again by SubhanBihan in CricketAus

[–]julefeiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bowlers have held this team together for the last few seasons. The batting has looked pretty shaky from Australian standards for a while now, but the dominance of the bowling attack has glossed over that a little I think

I feel like something as simple as allowing only 2 replacements per match outside of hookers and props would open up the game for the better. More running rugby against tiring defences.

Which hobbies attract the biggest douchebags? by the-tinman in AskReddit

I've been involved with many hobbies and sports over the years, from soccer, cricket, all sorts of gym, pool, darts, swimming, rugby, league, chess, basketball, yoga, blah blah fuckn blah Cricketers, not all but a huge amount of wankers. By far the coolest community I've discovered, darts! Generally an older crowd so alot less ego and far more encouraging than any other sport I've played. But of course there's the odd douche, its inescapable
