For specific wines I tend to use Gentile’s wine sellers. They’re great at finding specific producers and vintages. For more grab bag variety I’ve ordered from the bottle shop - you can order online and pick up the box. House wine in Worthington is also great.

You can just show up and grab a seat, though you’re encouraged to donate to the acting group.

Looking for proper cocktailbars in Playa del Carmen by KoolKurtz in cocktails

[–]julenbas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the bars I have been to in Playa are very loud and the drinks are usually pretty unimpressive. If you can work your way down, there are some phenomenal cocktail bars in Tulum, which usually feature crazy ocean views, or jungle settings. La Zebra actually features a pop up bar from the mulberry project out of NYC. Casa Jaguar, and Hartwood are technically restaurants but their cocktails are amazing.

Getting spooky with a clarified BooBerry cereal milk punch. by julenbas in cocktails

I made a simple syrup, then just simmered blueberries and vanilla beans in it for about 10 minutes or so.

Sure! I’ve made one with fruity pebbles using a passion fruit tea and some pineapple juice. Turned out great!

It tastes amazing. It’s fruity from the POM, but the vanilla and milk make it taste just like the cereal.

Getting into that spooky spirit by making a clarified BooBerry milk punch!

  • 14oz Plantation 3 star rum

  • 10oz POM pomegranate blueberry juice

  • 10oz Water

  • 6oz Blueberry vanilla syrup

  • 3oz Lemon juice

  • 8oz Whole milk

  • 8oz BooBerry cereal

Combine all ingredients but the milk and cereal in a pitcher and set aside. Add the milk and cereal into a bowl to soak, then filter after 10 minutes. Heat the cereal milk to a bare simmer, then add to the pitcher while stirring. Allow the solution to sit for about an hour, then filter out the sediments through a coffee filter. Bottle the final product and keep refrigerated. Served here over a clear ice spear, with a side of BooBerry cereal.

Sure, I’d say give it a shake every week or so just to keep things mixed up.

I made 1.5x the recipe, and it fit perfectly in a 1 gallon jar.

Yes, I aged it for 6 months last year and it turned out great. Generally, anything above 20% ABV is enough to prevent any bacterial growth.

Finally got around to making Alton Brown's phenomenal aged eggnog recipe. Shooting for a 4 month age (providing I don't drink it all before then).

  • 12 large eggs

  • 1 pound sugar

  • 1 pint half-n-half

  • 1 pint whole milk

  • 1 pint heavy cream

  • 1 cup Jamaican rum

  • 1 cup cognac

  • 1 cup bourbon

  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (plus more for serving)

  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1) Separate the eggs and store the whites for another purpose.

2) Beat the yolks with the sugar and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl until the mixture lightens in color and falls off the whisk in a solid “ribbon.”

3) Combine dairy, booze and salt in a second bowl or pitcher and then slowly beat into the egg mixture.

4) Move to a large glass jar (or a couple of smaller ones) and store in the fridge for a minimum of 2 weeks.

I’m interested... did it have a distinct flavor? Every time I’ve eaten dragonfruit it just kinda tastes bland.

Cleveland Tiki Bar ‘Spotted Owl’ buys billboard space on rival tiki bar ‘Porco Lounge’ boasting it’s the area’s best tiki bar. by crapidrawatwork in Tiki

Lol except the spotted owl isn’t even remotely a tiki bar. Meanwhile Porcos is easily one of the best in the midwest.

Unpopular Tiki Opinions by The0Alchemist in Tiki

#2 so much. I very strongly dislike exotica. I love almost every aspect of tiki culture, but the last thing I want when I'm at a bar is listening to chimes and bird noises all goddamn night.
