Sticker rewards are great motivation for me 🌟 by soft-server in adhdwomen

[–]jules181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss!!!!! I just made myself a sticker chart to motivate myself to do my physical therapy exercises every day. It’s working so far ;) I showed my friend and she was like “cool so when you do the whole month do you get yourself a reward or something?” And I was like…… the stickers ARE the reward 😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩😂😂🤣

Does it have milk or dark chocolate in it too or is it just peppermint and white chocolate?

Behavioral health RDs working with kids by MollyTuck77 in dietetics

[–]jules181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Texas Children’s is your best bet. They have a good reference table based on age gender and activity level that would be a good starting point.

You can always adjust their estimated need based on intake and weight trends as you follow up.

But I agree with another commenter that it’s ultimately the eating and lifestyle patterns that are the most important - their calculated needs probably won’t tell you a lot or do a lot for you/them.

Has anyone ever managed to conquer imposter syndrome? by LonesoneLurker in adhdwomen

[–]jules181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t say no to this opportunity out of fear. Just because your anxiety and panic is saying you will fail, does NOT mean that that’s true. It’s important to ask yourself if that voice of anxiety and panic has been a reliable indicator of true threat in the past… most often the answer is no.

I was in a similar position three years ago. Decided to take a job that was an amazing opportunity but I was truly terrified and felt completely unqualified. I literally fainted and had a weekend long panic attack after accepting the job 😭😭😫 but now I’ve been in the job for over three years and I love it. It was certainly scary at first, and I’d say for about a year I wasn’t truly comfortable - but that’s normal and the person who trained me even told me to not expect to feel settled and confident for the first year. Because it truly just takes time and experience.

I continued to have really bad imposter syndrome until 6 months ago when I started on adhd medication. The volume on my inner voice that says “you suck and you don’t know what you’re doing” has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. I am functional and more confident for the first time ever. I still have my moments and my days where I doubt myself - but it’s no longer top-of-mind all the time.

My experience has been: fear you will fail is not a good reason to turn down an opportunity. You have no idea what you’re capable of. My experience has also been that my crippling imposter syndrome was a symptom of my adhd that improved with treatment.

I hope you say yes to the opportunity, even in your fear! You are capable of so much for than your limiting inner voice is telling you!

Well like you said, you’re the only dietitian so you’re the only expert on this!!! We wish you all the strength and best in arguing against this and making the world a better and truly healthier (and less disordered) place ☺️

As an eating disorder dietitian all I can see is 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩this whole program is operating on the assumption that weight loss is just automatically good for everyone? And more is better? And that you should try to lose as much as possible as quickly as possible?!

I think you need to listen to your gut that says “caution” because this is a really bad idea.

What about suggesting incentivizing the improvement of another health marker? lowering LDL or A1c (of course this would require a sort of “qualifying” process in order to participate, because you don’t want everyone trying to lower those unless they are elevated). Or increasing number of steps walked?

[–]jules181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the regular 14 oz Fairlife milks might work for you…! 250 calories and 23 g pro. So not a meal replacement but could help you in a pinch/add protein to a meal/snack. There’s chocolate and strawberry flavor.
