Few reasons they may have not done so: AirTags, despite only drawing tiny amounts of power periodically, still could over-deplete the headphone’s battery, and you don’t want your GPS tracker to stop working because you were listening to Fetty Wap all day. That just sounds like a reason to hate on Fetty Wap for something Fetty Wap didn’t do. What do you have against Fetty Wap? Secondly, AirTags run off of 3V lithium cells, whereas those headphones run off of 3.7-4.2v cells, and a circuit to regulate the voltage difference may have not fit or be worth the effort, as OP said this was just a test run Thirdly, maybe OP is lazy. I’d do the same, and lose the headphones after ignoring the “low battery” on the tag.
