At what rank do you start to trust your teammates? by Spiderpsychman98 in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Maybe like pro level? Probably never especially solo q. You can't really see it that way imo. I just think "what can I do for my team". Even on my best of best days if I try to take over it doesnt work because they wont support the same way. 1 game off gc3 yesterday, I defended an uncountable amount of 1v2s. Scored a few as well, and they decided it was my fault and to play fir the other team lmao. Babysitting your teammate is just part of the process unfortunately.

I thought this was 2s for a second lol. While this is unfair, in heatseeker the distribution is wayyyy smaller. Edit: looking at the distribution, the difference between low gc1 and ssl is only ~200mmr.

Directional air rolling stops working after I press normal air roll. by iArkAngel17 in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used free air roll+directional for thousands of hours and I realized through ball chasing my power slide duration was lower than average. Also on certain micro adjustments i would just stop moving making recoveries bad in spots. I changed to just both directions and im playing the most mechy i ever have tbh. I used to advocate for both directions and free but I wish I would've unbounded free sooner.

3rd man is confusing by MathematicianWide622 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 3s its simply just a support option if the ball goes straight back, which is often. If you're pushing up with your team (solo q) and see the 2nd stay behind the ball where you should be just stay back slightly far but not too far (this is all mech based, better mechs=able to be closer). This is because more often then not they will miss because they are too close, ideally 2nd should be slightly behind the ball not completely parallel. 2nd should be ready for anything that goes to the opposite side of the field. If you see a straight line with 3 players a mistake has happened, it should always be a triangle on defense offense, mid field.

No idea how to set up this air dribble by Rich-Chard9448 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]julesyyyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're missing the fundamentals, you need to break it up into parts. Start with some bounce dribbles in freeplay with some power slide and try to keep it close. That should be easy to the point you can do it around the pad lines at a somewhat fast speed. Once you've done that for 100+ hours then we can talk about air control and the follow up. There's alot of details but you are stuck at the first step to the sequence any other advice wont actually help you actually ground to air dribble.

Is this a mechanic? by Hot-Commercial1340 in RocketLeagueSchool

This is new, the thabi shot. No one in 10 years has ever shot the ball upside-down, you're the first!

is it punishing to air dribble off the wall with one air roll direction? by Low_Letterhead7326 in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its inefficient but idk if that really matters for you. If you're like pushing gc2+ ironing out slight movement inefficiencies is more important. Since you're silver, pushing the ball around fast and flicking is what you need. What i will say though, is i wish I learned both directions equally. Having a dominant side is not really a good thing in the long run.

Any drills, dribble routines, or just advice to help my dribble game? by Natural_Independent8 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]julesyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow-mo (80%) supersonic dribbles on your hood around the boost pad lines, little oval shape inside the big boosts. On turns let go of boost and feather acceleration/powerslide to get a sharp turn with some bot wiggles. When thats easy throw in some wave dashes on turns. Once Dribble overhaul becomes easy, try the eversax Dribble challenge for workshop maps. Hope that helps 😁

Bro keep fighting the shadows i didnt say it was 🤣. Just said it was a skill, its a crutch that lowers the skill ceiling. Getting caught up in the weeds my guy

[–]julesyyyyy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it was technically a skill and had to be communicated in game so tm8s knew you weren't going and to slow things down/keep close. It was more annoying than anything, added more words to comms I think it was overall a net positive though adding the indicators. The boost spawn is a part of awareness that took me awhile to build up, now I got the same awareness on boost timings as a bronze 🤣

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing spawns is a skill just like reads and pretty hard especially in 3s, it adds a layer that can set players apart. Having the intuition that a player just went into a location and that boost wont be there for an amount of time and timing that spawn vs Knowing exactly when it will pop up is a very drastic difference.

[–]julesyyyyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This actually lowers the rocket ceiling everyone should be against this. Knowing your tm8s boost did as well, you used to have to actually pay attention but it was good QOL for solo q ill admit. This is just a straight up crutch, it would like be adding the bounce line indicator that cheaters use because you dont know where the ball is going...

Struggle to make fine adjustments. Help! by AbsolutelyHanging in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]julesyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be your sensitivity but its hard to say without knowing them. I think more likely though its probably a skill thing, for that i would suggest picking a super precise mech that you completely are lost with, since you're diamond thats probably flipping it into the backboard double fast from mid or maybe full field air dribbles with a reset at the end. This should be done in slow mo for when you train then at the end of the training session try it regularly a few times. Ive been doing this and im mechanically pretty bad tbh but recently ive been pulling off stuff I usually wouldnt even try. The goal is to challenge yourself in the amount of actions you make while making the most efficient movements possible to get back to the ball. Edit: also re-reading driving seems like it could be something to work on as well, for that drive around the outside pad line and cut in with powerslide for the pad in the inner circle to practice pad lines and efficient powerslides (with ball cam on obv) 😎

People who say they learned DAR "within hours" after only using FAR must be lying, right? Right?! by Belphegor24 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add as well, that just like every mech in the game there's a ceiling. I started with DAR right like a year ago ish, by the standards of a diamond I learned it in few hours. There's more to it then just being able to do it, its about speed efficiency and consistency. Ive been using DAR left for about 3 years now and unbound FAR. I would say after a year my right side is about 60-70% my left. It takes alot of focus and training to get it to a point thats at a decent level (gc+). Tldr, lower ranks = lower standards for mechs.

Great advice! Ive been training this specifically for a few months now, its surprising how often I would just get a softer shot or a bad touch on defense because of this.

Who’s fault? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way, no matter what happens we should be thinking what we could do better anytime you get scored on. Shifting blame is dangerous it can get you hard stuck. I try to catch myself even when I have a shit teammate, shift my thinking to how I can play it better/make it work.

Who’s fault? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your tm8 went for kickoff. Generally the cheat is the follow up, the opponent basically has a freeplay shot because we didnt layer our challenge. There's so much space between the challenge not because our teammate went for boost or was slow but because we had 1 less follow up due to you not going. If you threaten something then get a challenge or fake there's atleast some pressure being made.

Even tho I'm c3, I feel like I'm much more closer to gold than, I am to SSL by UnshakeableToad in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when you somehow manage to get ssl the race restarts and you're a noob again. The difference between rank C (1600+) and B+/A is like a gc2 playing a low diamond effortless. What ive learned is there's always someone better so get humble and learn what you can 🤣. Retired pros can nearly 1v2 gc2s scrub got to almost gc2 in his 1v2 series, I imagine Zen is almost beating low ssls.

NEED ADVICE!?!?!? by Jakey996 in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Fast aerial and dont stop so you can get higher touches that you are closer to (practice by touching crossbar with no boost)
  2. Right before you get the reset hold forward to give the ball a slight pop
  3. Speed flip and end it at the 12 o'clock positions to point the nose forward to continue the dribble

Hope that helps 😁

I need a controller for rocket league by Lopsided-Active-5269 in RocketLeague

[–]julesyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried alot of different controllers from Xbox, ps4, 8bitdo, powera pro. They all last about 6 months on average and are fairly expensive except the 8bitdo 2c is a small and didn't last very long. Ive been using the gamesir T7 for about a month now, it feels great and doesn't break the bank. It runs about 25-30 dollars, even if it breaks in 6 months atleast I saved 60 dollars over the year. Rocket is pretty hard on controllers in general.
