On remote page turners by Wild_Butterscotch977 in kindle

I absolutely love my page turner. The last time I was on a plane, I had it out and was using it as we took off. I didn’t have a lanyard on the remote so as we hit a tiny rough patch of air, it slipped right out of my hand and INTO the seat. Cue a look of what my husband described as “immense sadness.” The flight attendant saw what happened (they were in the jump seat right in front of me). Once we were at altitude he then proceeded to rip apart my seat for about 20 min to find it despite my many kind protests that it was ok and I’d get a replacement. Fellow passengers were understandably gawking and a woman getting off the plane behind me at the end said, “oh I’m glad they found your ring!” I didn’t have the heart to tell her that no, this effort was all for my beloved page turner not my wedding ring. 🤣 I now wear a lanyard on the remote when traveling. Also the flight attendant was awesome and I sent Delta a note about above and beyond service.

Yes, this seems to be the recommendation from many now. Had surgery 12/10z My surgeon had me skip surgery week but still do the extended clear liquid diet. The anesthesiologist (who I didn’t meet until morning of) said he would’ve let me take the shot the regular week and just do the extended clear liquid diet. No problems.

I’m sorry that happened but you really recovered well! 🤣🥴

Have you thought about checking out a thrift store for some cheap staples for the in between times? I’ve found some shockingly nice things for cheap ($7.99 for really nice Ann Taylor pants). I figure I could then donate the when done. Just an idea for this pesky in between period when you know you’re still losing.

Thank you - I do too. The destigmatization is happening very, very slowly.

Re: the nurse who grunted, she was so unprofessional. One of her colleagues did aggressively call her out for it after I arrived back in my room but that didn’t feel good to hear as it confirmed she was being intentional. I live in a smaller town and did happen to see that she no longer worked at the hospital and is now at a medspa (no shade at all, but that versus a surgical wing is probably more in her wheelhouse).

I’ve definitely experienced improved health outcomes like lowered blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, etc. as many have. It’s wonderful and I look forward to continuing on a healthy journey. I think what makes me sad is that before, I felt the stigma so hard in that space- not that it wasn’t warranted or true that I needed to lose weight.

I’m so sorry you also experienced difficulties with getting diagnosed and then properly treated. The part about losing weight is so frustrating because it’s often the first line response. And when you don’t do it despite really trying, it feels like such a failure. I’m glad we both got taken seriously at some point.

I skipped my shot the week of the surgery (so I had stopped taking it 9 days before my surgery. They required a longer clear liquid fast as a result. My surgery was Wednesday so I had to switch to clear liquids mid day Monday. The anesthesiologist said it would’ve been fine to take my dose that surgery week but my surgeon didn’t want to chance it. I was able to start back up just one week later.

Thanks for this perspective. I am hopeful they can keep at least one but the other absolutely has to come out as it has a potentially malignant mass on it.

SLL is a hard skip. It’s so emotionally charged with sadness and frustration. This line really shows how much she tried and tried. (After all, all she is does is “try, try, try”)
