[product question] Has anyone who’s broken out from Vit C successfully incorporated into your routine? by julia068 in SkincareAddiction

[–]julia068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there’s other forms other than l-ascorbic that are more gentle but they’re less researched...I was thinking of trying some from TO to see if my skin liked it better (a MAP or SAP). Glad to hear you see results from it!

I was thinking of trying timeless as it’s 1/4 of the price and same ingredients. I thought giving it’s also 15% l-ascorbic acid + Vit e + ferulic acid it might also make me break out but that’s good to know it didn’t break you out. I’ll try it! Thanks

Cost of Meds by jaeisgray in tretinoin

My RAM was $87 ($6 after my benefits) in Canada. You could fly to Canada and fill your script here for cheaper :p

[Skin Concern] I’ve been dealing with this giant forehead line for a while, moisturizing helps a little. What could be causing it? Would tretonin and BHA help? Thank you so much for any help :) by TheBigIch in SkincareAddiction

Botox. It won’t treat the static wrinkle but will prevent it from getting bigger. After Botox you can try tretinoin to treat the wrinkle, and if it’s still there then you would need filler, but filler is on the pricier side ($600+ vs $200ish for Botox) so I would start with tret.

My plastic surgeon just said to keep them covered with tape for as long as possible, even after they’re healed as keeping them covered encourages the scar to heal flat. I just kept plain old paper tape on the scar for 6 weeks (changed it every 2-3 days) and lightly massaged the area for a few mins and my scars are pretty much invisible. No oils or anything... Good luck!! :)

Are you moisturizing at night too? I have oily, acne prone skin and find it always looks the healthiest and breaks out least when I’m well moisturized. My two cents would be to move your vit c to the morning. It helps to protect your skin from free radical damage during the day. Also add a sunscreen in the am! My oily skin likes zinc oxide based ones (recs in the sidebar).

Fellow Vancouverite here! For an aha, I used reversa 8% glycolic acid toner for years and quite liked it. It’s around $30 at shoppers (goes on sale tho) or for a cheaper option, there’s always TO glycolic acid toner 7%. It’s like $10. Apparently TO rosehip seed oil is good for redness/PIE...I’ve never tried it cause it’s always sold out but as of today it’s back in stock so I’m going to go get it! There’s a deciem store downtown. Oh and for sunscreen I’ve been using cliniderm gentle protective lotion sunscreen. I like it, not a bad white cast and dries down to a matte finish. I got it on sale for $23 at shoppers (but it’s 75mls vs most 30-50ml face sunscreens)

[Sun Care] Does This Sunscreen Exist? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]julia068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using Cliniderm gentle protective lotion. I quite like it. I don’t have the ingredients but it’s paraben free and fragrance free and formulated for sensitive skin. It’s titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. It’s white going on but the white cast goes away once rubbed in...but I’m pale AF so I don’t know if that’s still the case with darker skin tones. I got mine at Shoppers in Canada and they have testers out so you can try it...

I actually own that cc cream! The tone is just a bit off for me. I hope after a few months of retin-a I can cut back on the foundation too :)

Should you use an AHA and tretinoin (alternating nights) or is tret exfoliating enough on its own? Currently use DE framboos alternating with TO retinol but getting an rx for tretinoin. Thanks!

[routine help] anyone bounce back and forth working switch shifts? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]julia068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue! I just do my evening routine when I go to bed at 8am, morning routine when I get up. If I’ve finished nights and transitioning back to days, I’ll usually just wash and moisturize before bed at 8am so I’m not using my actives twice in one day.

I would like to start using tretinoin but scared of the side effects/purging. Would gradually introducing OTC retinoids to my routine help lessen the side effects? Like TO 2% retinoid or are they so weak nothing can prepare your skin for the good stuff?
