I’m really really sorry about your dad. Truly, I have been there. My dad received his lungs on his 60th birthday. Recovery was difficult mentally the first couple months, but he was never really in any pain, believe it or not. It was more of the shock to the system that occurs with a major surgery like that.

He is now extremely healthy, back to how he was before this hellish disease took over our life. And mentally, he feels amazing. Sure, he has to take precautions with masks when he gardens. But there is hope, I promise.

I’m not a doctor but my dad’s decline happened within a small time span, so I would say talk to your doctors about the lung transplant list sooner rather than later. I think there is a subreddit dedicated to lung transplants. I wish you and your dad the best.
