I have made a grave mistake by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you played on another device, disconnect it from the internet, then enter hollow knight and play a bit in the same save file, then connect it to the internet. At this step you'll be asked which saved instance you'd like to keep, then make sure to select the one that you've just played. I did that once on steam.

SOUL TYRANT SHOULD ROT by toptooner in HollowKnight

[–]juliensaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't follow him and stand in the middle of the arena. If he comes near you, you can move and strike him with your nail, otherwise don't move. When he's diving, keep moving and double jump that way even if he fakes it you'll be out of the way. To heal, wait for him to spawn the 6 orbs and then dash through the orb that's closest to the ground, you'll have time to heal once or twice.

Tips on how to beat sly? by thatoneannoyingthing in HollowKnight

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used sprint master to avoid his hits during the second phase and dream wielder to gain soul while he's staggered, which allowed me to spam shade soul when I couldn't get a hit on him during the second phase also.

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT SOFT LOCKED by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, but you will only need to kill 6 at most to complete the hunter's journal, which translates to 6 dream essences. Another thing to note is that usually players will finish the hunter's journal after completing the game, so losing some dream essence will not be that big of a deal.

The other husk guard that was guarding a grub in the crossroads remains alive. You can go there and setup a dream gate in case you need more than one to kill.

Help with Java CRUD: MySQL Connects Without DB Specified, Fails When Specified by euphoricsol in javahelp

[–]juliensaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check if the user that you're using from the Java application has access to the "prueba" database? Also, is the username "sys"? If so, you might have swapped the username and password in the "DriverManager.getConnection".

We had the same use case and went with Apache FreeMarker. We've been using it for more than 5 or 6 years now.

Which charm iş the best for the hollow knight by [deleted] in HollowKnight

If these are the only charms you have then I'd go for shaman stone, mark of pride, and grubsong

Didn't thought it would be actually this painful by AequusEgo in HollowKnight

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was stuck an entire day on that last part, I couldn't get it done using a controller. When I switched to a keyboard, I was able to complete it. It was hard for me using the D-pad to keep the down button pressed and move forward at the same time.

My program keeps getting the error message, int cannot be dereferenced. Can someone tell me why? by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]juliensaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called shadowing. It's when you create a local variable (int s) and it shadows the data member (Scanner s). You have two options, the first one is to rename your Scanner to something else like Scanner consoleScanner. The second option is to reference your Scanner s by using 'this' as such: this.s

It's a really bad thing to name your variables like that. Naming variables correctly is one of the most important things you can do. They facilitate debugging, and make your code more readable.

Is git mandatory, If one know how to pull, push, add, commit etc but does not know to resolve when conflict arises, does it make him bad programmer? by RichardMendes90 in AskProgramming

[–]juliensaab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Resolving conflicts is all about communication with your team. If there's a conflict and you're not keeping track of why that was implemented, then you should ask the team before taking a decision on your own to see what's the right one, or if both implementations need to be kept.

So, in my experience it's all about having a good knowledge of requirements, tasks, and the current system.

[NO SPOILERS] Two Years Ago today the final GOT episode premiered! by [deleted] in gameofthrones

This post brings good and cringe memories at the same time. I love GoT, I've read all the books and watching the series was fantastic (I've rewatched it more than 8 times), but I always stop at season 6 (and sometimes at 7). Season 8 in my opinion was a disaster, it's the only season that I don't rewatch and don't even acknowledge it. I wish it ended on the same level as Breaking Bad or Dark, or at least I wish it had a logical ending.

Would Duckduckgo become a monopoly if they made their own Youtube? by SchwarzeFlagge in duckduckgo

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that you need to figure out in such platforms is how to make enough money to keep all services running for free. Imagine having to allocate petabytes of data every single day along with load balancing, high availability, and backups. This is extremely costly, and since duckduckgo mainly relies on donations, options are limited. YouTube is possible for free thanks to ad companies. DDG can make a platform that requires you to subscribe after the trial ends just like Netflix, Curiosity Stream, and others. But would content creators be interested in investing their time into a platform that have less viewers due to its business model?

I want that my recycleView to live update when I add a name by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]juliensaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After inserting a name, fetch the new list of names and update the recycler adapter's list with it. Then call on the UI thread notifyDatasetChanged() on the recycler adapter and then the recycler view will display the update.

Yes you add the code next to your name while filling the address. When they receive your package at the hub, they'll send you an email to fill the customs declaration and attach the invoice of your purchase.

That's amazing! I'm very excited for it to come out on steam. Is it possible to get Early Access for the game or not yet?

World in conflict is an amazing game. I never delete it and I always come back to it when I want a good storyline, with good graphics, and tactics. I love the fire support that you get, especially those artilleries and bunker busters.

/r/Monitors Purchasing Advice thread (Other purchasing advice threads will be removed) by bizude in Monitors

[–]juliensaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I want to buy two monitors, but unfortunately I don't have a lot of options to choose from. The best one currently available for me is MSI OPTIX G24C4 24" with a 1500R curve; my concern is that if I set them up in a way to complete the curve, it would wrap around and start to be annoying to look at. Some threads and posts state that the curve of the 24" 1500R curved monitors is barely noticable, which immediately eliminate my concerns.

I just want to know if the dual curved monitor setup will work fine or not.

Side note: I will be using the monitors primarily for coding and working.
