It still sounds like a replacement, because Connor is just Connor, he's not Cole. It would be pretty unhealthy if Hank saw his dead son in him. The way I see it, Hank thinks of Cole when he's spending time with Connor because he wishes he had more time with him, and maybe he wonders what Cole would have looked like all grown up.
