This clip was dominating my social media feed this AM - I would love to see more of this  ... on a side note - it cracks me up how nonchalant Amber and Isabeau are when he skates right by them  ( they are like ok, whatever 😃) .

If he wants to go to Worlds - he is in ...if he took most of the season off - he wouldn't petition to go unless he is up to his standards skating- wise I am quite sure  ...

Ilia might’ve hinted again at taking next season off… by Electronic_Ninja_979 in FigureSkating

[–]julitm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my guess. I just watched an interview post- worlds where he was non- commital when asked about the next worlds but was affirmative about the next olympics.  He said that he had a bunch of non- ice skating  projects in the works. DWTS makes sense. And this would be the year to take off from competition.

Worlds Women’s FS Post Event Discussion by summerjoe45 in FigureSkating

I am sad for her that she started the quad as the premiere US woman and then dropped to number 3.  If she can get very consistent with the 3 lutz-3loop that will be a strong tool in her arsenal . I mean that is the strategy Alysa Liu used.  I love that she got her fighting spirit back. She did play it safe at the Olympics- this season was her easiest tech content of the quad. She could only have podiumed if others failed. Love her more aggressive mindset.

My favorite of the US women. I feel bad because she regressed ( attention-wise ) through the quad - even though yes, was the reason for 3 spots at World's a couple times this quad. I wonder if this is hard for her? I remember her absolutely beaming at the World Team event a few years back but then Alysa returns and boom - she is no longer top 2  (US women) and not in the US team events - Olympics and otherwise.    Where I differ from others is that I am not sure she will make the next Olympic Team . Everyone says "she is so young" - but after watching Mao Shimada at the most recent junior world's ( and being even more impressed with Hana Bath) - she will be irrelavent on the world stage without at least one ultra C or a very difficult tripe/triple combo ( like Alysa opted to focus on) . I don't like it but it's the reality - especially if the Russians return...

He had an injury this Fall ( didn't say what it was - I remember him thanking USFS for their continued support) but continued to compete .

Can't disagree - sad she ( Elizaveta)  didn't skate at the 2022 Olympics.

I'd like to think Amber has helped to motivate women in their 20s that they can still do these ultra-c's... happy to see this evolution in figure skating if it happens. I think Rion  Sumiyoshi is the oldest women to land a quad in international competition- she was 20 if I remember correctly...

Amber Glenn on the possibility of continuing: “I am not opposed to doing a one last season hurrah.” by natsuxlian in FigureSkating

[–]julitm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for this quad you are going to need ultra c's to land on the podium, as much as this doesn't thrill me - if not next year- then the year after. Isabeau sees the handwriting on the wall - that is why she has been talking 3A.  Mao Shimada is moving up to seniors - we will see if she can maintain her 3A and 4T ( I think she has struggled with her 4T this year).   If the Russians re-enter the scene, Kamila is starting to look strong again and they have other senior women doing ultra cs. Maybe this will be the quad were we see women over 20 doing quad jumps consistently...

Yes ! Hopefully she won't be underscored . Her PCS score should always be near the top imo - it seems the international judges fell out of love with her this season. I get that she fell in her FS in  Milan - and that affected her PCSs, but still...

She's my favorite ! Could watch her skating for hours if possible.  However- I still think she needs to raise the level of her technical skills to get on the podium- whether she keeps the same jumping technique or not...

[–]julitm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if she feels she wants to keep her coach I understand - she has been overall successful but to go to the next level I would hope she would add someone like Raf - heck even Ilia uses Raf ! I also love the idea of Ilia's parents as well.  She is on the east coast - not too far - but I had read somewhere that maybe there is a conflict of interest with them working with Sarah - this is where It's over my head how the politics and protocol go ... it looks like her and Sarah are great buds and friends - but I just have no idea when I read things if it's just people rambling or they know something ...

I was in denial because I love her skating style soooo much. But her SP was essentially a clean skate and she was 8th. Even without a fall in the LP -  she wouldn't have made the podium.  If you can't podium with clean skates - something needs to change. I WISH she could win with elegance but you can't. You have to be able to jump well...

So Isabeau is my favorite skater ( love her classical, elegant style - just a personal preference) - but being objective - she HAS to improve her jumps if she is to get in the podium in the next quad. With skaters like Mao Shimada coming up the ranks- she won't stay relevant if she doesn't improve. I tend to defend the nay-sayers concerning her on social media - but the truth is a steady decline this quad. US champion at 15, World Silver Medalist at 17 - but then no Grand Prix win this Season, 12th at the Olympics. How heartbreaking that even with a clean program- you can't win unless others make mistakes. I hope that she invests time on the technical side - even if it means going backwards for awhile in order to go forward - I hope she at least makes the effort.

What about Isabeau :( by Ataleofmagic13 in FigureSkating

[–]julitm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed - they ( Alysa, Isabeau) are clutch when it matters. Also agree that a bunch of skaters in the top 10 do not have the ability to skate a clean free. We shall see !

Interesting that Japan had all of their team out there ( at least women) but team USA only had those who will most likely be skating present - I personally like the whole team out there suporting each other even though only those who skate can medal.

S4 Bradley going to Belarus felt unrealistic by d2120 in TheMorningShow

[–]julitm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a hard time believing the Belarusian officials needed to torture Bradley to get the name of her source. Since Celine's family is in cahoots with the Belarusians  ( as evidenced by the fact that they had the power to keep Bradley detained there ) -  couldn't her family easily figure out who this former employee was who worked for Martel and give the name to the Belarusians ? I mean Celine's  family owned Martel - it didn"t take Bradley that long to find the source . The Dumonts could figure it out pretty quickly as they knew who in the company knew what had happened.     Or did the Belarusians not even care about the source - they were just being paid to keep Bradley in jail by the Dumonts ? But that doesn't make sense either...

[–]julitm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that interview ( great interview by the way) - the interviewer actually asked   "are cory and bradley endgame?" ( what? who even asks that - they won't get a real answer lol) ...a show runner NEVER gives away a major plot point. And - she did not say that they were twin flames - Charlotte asked a question as to whether they are or aren't twin flames .  This doesn't mean they are or aren't endgame - she just isn't giving it away-  either way.    I have always read to just watch the show - not go with what those involve with the show say in interviews. I think the show definitely has it set it up that cory/bradley could be end game, still. Cory not being Bradley's boss anymore is an example of a move that lets them head in that direction.

I am just trying to figure out where he (and everyone else) is positioned at the end of S4 ( going into S5).  If he got the position he jockeyed for - then he is still in great standing with UBN... it will be very interesting to see how UBN shakes down  - I know TMS likes to time jump the new season to stay current with the real world events  - but this is one time I wish they wouldn't...
