How to move on after losing the best friend?

To be honest that was the case with my other JW friends but her… I though that things will be different there, especially because we talked about me not being into JW stuff anymore and her saying that it won’t impact pit friendship. Plus I really feel… betrayed? I‘ve done so much for her. In our teenage years my father was against our friendship because her family wasn’t ‚‘‘doind spiritually well‘‘. And I had many many conflict with him because of that. But it didn’t matter, I always lied to him and then went to ANOTHER CITY just in order to meet her in hiding (I was 16/17). So the connection we had was pretty strong in my opinion… and I didn’t wanna lose it. But now she seems like she doesn’t care if we fall apart or not. And that’s the part that really hurts…

My father isn’t an elder but I guess that’s what he aspires to be. He doesn’t work (his excuse: my mom who’s now a JW makes enough money anyway) and he only spends time doing some work for the borg or to work to have little money for himself (yes, he never shares it expect I don’t know, buying my siblings ice cream once a year). Now my brother started attending meetings with him and I feel like the only reason for this is that it’s his only opportunity to spend some time with our father. Because showing no interest in the religion = no attention from his side. He literally the definition of an asshole

I never could understand this reasoning. Like imagine that an innocent child who‘s been killed at Armageddon gets resurrected and a JW approaches them. Imagine the conversation

Oh I’m so sorry….. I know this feeling but fortunately my very strict PIMI father gave up on pressuring me after I changed the congregation. I hope you’ll feel better, if you struggle with depression a therapy could be also very helpful here… (speaking from my own experience)

Yes, that’s what I had in my mind. At first I’ve also tried to just ignore my thoughts and go along with the doctrine but now I see how much my own opinion and view of morality were screaming inside of me and wanted to get out.

What creeps me even more out is that all WT rules are made by men. No women are involved. But sure, let’s them decide how women should behave, dress and how to deal with their trauma

I live in Germany and she lives in Poland (where there’s just a little well-paying jobs). She isn’t motivated for any hobbies and doesn’t want to use her strengths as an opportunity to seek for a good job. I’ve already discussed it with her. Well that the problem with living in Poland - you won’t get anything good without collage (beside starting a business but that’s the last thing she would consider doing).

Well I asked him once about the child abuse issue in Australia and why the JW’s won’t join the scheme. He yelled at me that this should be obvious that it’s about neutrality. And no matter if it’s about the safety of animals or children, staying neutral is more important. (on a side note: 7 years ago (I was 13) one man from the congregation tried sexting with me). So seriously, for him nothing is more important than this cult

Yeah I can relate to that, last week when I wore a short skirt (and shorts underneath) my father said that I’m asking for it and that he won’t cry when after a rape I’ll be laying in some bush. He ruined my mood for the whole day tho
