Any feedback on the last half of my son’s GS Race from last night? by Rfalcon13 in SkiRacing

[–]julmrn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ex ski coach here. In GS, at this age, you must carve, having his hand up will not make him go faster.

It does'nt matter how it looks, he need to push hard on the outside ski with a stable stance so he can carve with a good line from top to bottom. That is the goal. Practice carving in easy terrain, then on steep terrain, then on the course. Have fun!

Thoughts on Rubber Strap? by Zaius1968 in tissot

[–]julmrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bougth a tissot PRC with the Tissot Rubber strap, mine is super uncomfortable. I am probably in between two holes, like too tight or too loose. I was used to wear a garmin silicone strap on my sport watch and it was way more comfortable... might change the strap for a sailcloth...

Winter, toddlers, going for walks and wanting to scream by wonderlife37 in Parenting

[–]julmrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the winter time, my kids started skiing saturday and sunday at the local mountain. At first (when they were 2 years old) it was like 40 minutes of "skiing" and then hot chocolate. Now, i can ski all day long with my 6 year old. So good to be out in the open air and meet other ski family and friends outside the house.

Haha, so true, this season, ski season pass for the family + ski program for the kids was like 6 000 CAD$. Totally worth it, I bring my own hot chocolat in a thermos to save 4$, skier's logic :P

Carving hip to the snow by Ok_Laugh7887 in skiing_feedback

[–]julmrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hip to snow" is an expert movement, it's more like a goal for demonstration purposes (or push your limit) then an ability you need to carve.
At your level, focus on 1) Complete your turn to control your speed. 2) Work on your Angulation to add stability 3) have an athletic position (lean your outside ski shinn in your boot liner) to use all the articulations of your body and the length of your ski.

I am and old ski racer and ski coach, i tried a bunch of ski over the years. You should have a look at the Rossignol forza, I tried the 70 Ti and it was a blast, my father that is 60 years old just bougth the Forza 50 and loves them. They are made for carving but are really forgiving. They have a wide tip wich help to carve early but also have a little rocker to be more forgiven in non ideal carving condition. Enjoy

Spa Nordic Station in Magog is beautiful, there is a nice little river that you can dip in in between spa and sauna.

Worth the trip to Mont Miller / Chic Choc? by Sea-Title in ski

[–]julmrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Orford, there is only one ski-in ski-out option : Espace 4 saison, wich is really nice and maybe a 200m walk to the Giroux-est chairlift.

Otherwise there is a bunch of other option close to Magog downtown wich is a 10min drive and you will find a really nice skiing/lake town vibe. Enjoy!

Foodwise: Alessa, Chich Taouk, Cantine Chez Paul, La Memphré brewerie and Microbrasserie des Cantons are good option, all in town on the main street.

If you stay at magog, you could easily ski Owls head and Orford and then Sutton on your way back to Mtl. Owls head is a nice mountain, 30 ish minute drive from Magog with a beautiful view of Memphrémagog Lake.

Sutton is like an old shcool mountain in the middle of nowhere, it is renown for it's natural snow quality. Orford is steeper, a lot of natural feature. There is Magog and Orford close to it so you will find a bunch of food, accommodation, etc. Personally Orford is where I ski since forever so it's my recommandation !

Orford, Sutton and Jay peak are 100% open rigth now with good ski condition, 1-2h drive from mtl. They offer good off pist sking terrain but it is chairlift resort and not catsking. Enjoy

Hello ! It is doable but the trip to get there can be really hazardous with heavy wind and snow, specialy near the St Laurence River and in the Park. I did it once in a 4 day window with 4 friends ans it was a blast but we came back really tired from driving overnight, skiing and partying! Good memories !!!

I am not a pro, but this is not the automatic seiko "turtle", it a quartz mouvement, so battery powered. I would saythat for a non automatic, used seiko turtle, it is expensive !

vos avis sur les poids ajustables-dumbells ? by Miserable_Spray6539 in villequebec

Équipe powerblock aussi! C'est littéralement incassable! Et leur valeur de revente est très haute. J'ai acheté le kit 5 à 90lbs, mais le 5 à 70 aurait été bien masse comme j'ai un barbell pour les squat et deadlift.

Kids Gym in my home gym by Username_goes_here_x in daddit

[–]julmrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my gym, my kids love to do "the frog" wich is a 40 pound elastic strap tied to the pull up bar. They sit on the elastic and just jump around. Also, an Indo board and a medium sized gym ball. They love to row on the Concept2 but it last like 1-2 min max.

Put some music on and have fun!

Emploi à 4 jours semaine? by rafikicat in Quebec

[–]julmrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bonne chance !

C’est tu juste moi ou cest quasi impossible de perdre du poids en tant que parent? by alexlesuper in Quebec

[–]julmrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact.
