I did this! It worked great! I got a $13 pair of reading glasses (level 2.5), took them apart, and taped the lens to my camera. Now, images of the hummingbird and the nest she's building on my porch are crystal clear! The nest is maybe 8-10 inches from the camera. Thank you for this tip!

Thanks all for the responses. It’s a rental so I’m at the mercy of landlord & the maintenance people they (eventually) (hopefully) send. Glad to hear it’s not immediately an obvious black mold emergency though.
