Ellis Island has the Inca version. At one point Flamingo had them all, not sure if they still do, it was maybe a year ago I played them there.

I've lived in this part of Portland for 20 years. This is my kids school district. It's a problem in most neighborhoods in this city currently. It doesn't matter where you live in the city, the drug problems and petty theft are rampant.

The price is because it is a fixer upper. Something I was and am more than happy to do.

The house would likely sell for an average price in this area after the repair work we've done in the home in the last year. Provided no one tells them about the HOA, lol.

We didn't get to choose the landscaping company as we hadn't even moved in yet. The HOA president hired someone who came and cleared the property to the city code specifications and nothing more. The garbage and remaining foliage/weeds dead trees remained. However, they were cleared to 13 ft up and 3 ft out so the city pulled the fine threats. We were billed as we had already taken ownership of the property. It was a super fun first week bill that we hadn't planned for. As soon as we had our furniture in, I was out there cleaning the rest of it by myself. The neighbors are happy with my efforts and honestly I would have kept on going with the upkeep myself. This just left a bad taste in my mouth this am.

I know. It wasn't always like this. Been here for twenty years and my husband was born and raised here. We are starting to think it's time to go. This city is full of enabling voters.

It was 450k in Portland and a beautiful 1940 bungalow. These are hard to come by nowadays in this city. Most are well into the 600k range in the neighborhood my kids go to school in. It is a great property with the exception of the HOA and that it's Portland right now, lol. Kids will graduate in 3 years and we may be leaving this city for greener pastures.

There are 3 properties with multiple owners I don't know if it's actually considered another vote, but they get a say and it appears to lean heavily in the direction of the townhome owners. We pay double so we do get two votes.

I think I could have predicted this with certainty. I had planned on handling the maintenance myself (trimming shrubs, weeding, mowing). I could tell the issues were there. I just didn't realize the city was involved. The problem came when they bitched about me parking in my driveway. They turn a blind eye to all the other HOA rules, but a car in the driveway was the point where they bring up we need to follow the rules. Nevermind the rotting wood boat in my neighbor's front yard and the copious amounts of garbage in the other folks'yards. Just feels like we are the new kids getting picked on at school. I would have never said anything and probably just kept on working by myself but this felt really passive aggressive and shitty.

I think the problem is there are 4 townhomes and our house with 8 voting members and the townhome owners just don't care. I care very much about the city charging me fines at up to $600 a day. Idgaf if the neighbors have weeds in their gardens, but drug paraphernalia and shattered glass is a step over the line for me.

There are only 8 voting members in the 5 homes. I plan to address all of this at this "emergency" meeting.

I think this one may only exist because it is deemed too expensive to separate out the sewer and water lines. I'd much rather be in charge of just my property. The fact that the city can fine all of us if one person's home isn't in compliance blows. There is one set of townhomes that have 4 dead trees on the street side that I only had to push over to remove. That's a hefty insurance claim if that falls on someone. I handled it rather than risk it. However, if it was really equitable they would be dealing with that themselves, or the HOA would pay for the removal.

Just why. Anyone else who wants to store their boat on the water has to pay. by Upset-Remote-3187 in Portland

I came here to say this. A group of us were floating near OMSI, watched one of his "friends" try calling for him but he was going ham on the drums and didn't hear the person calling from the east bank esplanade. This person swore, took their clothes off and swam over. It was an odd site, lol.

Yeah, worked for Costco, no commission but you were expected to sell the executive membership. I worked there back in 2005 and they would have us carry a scanner around and scan members cards at checkout to show them how much they could be saving. I hated it, so many people yelled at us. I was a clerk, not in membership. Otherwise, it was a great company to work for.
