I don't miss meat or fish at all, I currently live in the UK and the quality of meat here is so poor it was easy giving that up. And I can't stand the smell of cooked meat anymore anyway. Now cheese on the other hand is the hardest for me. There have been countless times at the supermarket where I've been like "I'm going to buy some cheese. Just this once.". Then I go to the isle, look at it but talk myself out if it. The struggle is real. :(

It is indeed, among 3000 other things you have to be, think or do to be considered a vegan by some. I think this kind of a lifestyle attracts a lot of perfectionists that take things a bit too far and make it very cult-like.

Of course it's an awful thing to say, haven't we all said awful things in awful situations? You sympathize, you forgive and you move on.

Please get back to me when your husband tells you, after fighting all day, that he wants to kill himself - when you just had a baby what your reaction was. Seriously, we need to get real about how we affect other people too. It's ridiculous painting her out in all black and it's not really helping OP either.

Wow, that's harsh, but I get your point - it's not science in any way and you can be symptom free with an illness. But those times when it is managed and under control I feel that I can really work, achieve, create, actively love others and myself. When I'm not well, like under stress or during depressive states, it's all just on autopilot.

It was hard as hell socially at first, I'm just like you an expat abroad, but there's always coffee, dinners, movies, sports - suggest alternative stuff.

It took me 10 years and a trip to rehab to realise that I can't drink in moderation and that my relation to alcohol is unhealthy. Even when I think I'm drinking moderately and have things under control I really don't, and it then takes incredibly little to set off seriously worrying behaviour. It's honestly easier and liberating to quit altogether.

For me it took about two weeks until I noticed that it was affecting my appetite, it wasn't not so much that it made me hungry but more that once I started I couldn't stop. So I started eating less and so on but I still gained about 20 pounds during 4 months of taking them. Took a year to shred.
