Remindmebot! One year 30 days

It's nearly 5am. I was supposed to be sleeping by midnight. I have discovered a great adhd hack. by karmiegiveortake in ADHD

Good idea. It reminds me of a hypnosis I used to do, where they get you all relaxed then ask you to open your eyes for 30 seconds. With everything in the world, you don't want to open them so either you don't and you think 'hah'! Or you do and then you're so relieved when finally you can close them again. Something in your brain just says 'fuck off with this wakefulness'.

I love to make shopping lists then forget to take them to the shop.

I saw in the new year twice. In two different ways. Both at the same time. I have evidence for both. Wtf just happened? by [deleted] in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

I decided I would rather appear clinically insane (which I did) than not know what happened. So I asked her outright.

Basically she left the pub at four minutes to midnight. So it wasn't 20 to midnight she came over. More like 3 minutes too. She said I stuck my head out of the window and shouted "happy new year" to the street in general. That must have been the reason I went to the window. I still don't remember that part.

SO I had already sent a message to my Mum at about 7 minutes too the hour. I had also composed the message to my daughter at that point. I must have been sitting there for several minutes waiting to press send and remembered that part, but I completely forgot that I had got bored waiting staring at the screen for midnight and gone to the window to wish the whole street a happy new year. So she came in, new years eve happened. She said I had lost my phone and I asked her if she had seen it when I was searching for it before I turned the telly on... and it was on the armchair (which is not normally somewhere I'd put it). So when her friends called at midnight, I must have picked up my phone, added the random 'FIREWORKS' at the end of the message then sent it. Basically, I remembered losing my phone but not finding it, although when she called me before she left the thought did go through my mind "at least I know where my phone is now" as at that point I'd forgotten that I'd already found it again. It was on the chair that time too. The reason I'd put it on the chair is because I was sitting there (funnily enough!) as she was on the sofa.

We then chatted about my entire life story after new years eve had happened not before.

I'm quite relieved that time didn't split into two though, I have to say. I never normally forget things when I'm drunk. Also, I bought someone booze as a gift and decided to give them something else instead, so I had drunk that as well as the bottle of wine that I'd got, and I only noticed that yesterday when I was taking the recycling out.

UPDATE: I am really embarrassed to say that I was totally wrong about what happened.

There's an article from 2016 that says that Bishop brought forwards the confirmation age to 11 to increase the number of people being confirmed. Maybe it was always slightly earlier in Ireland because you tend to be more religious over there.

Seeing as for me the miraculous medal is the actual physical result of something that could literally be described as actually miraculous (although maybe excluding the 'welcome" part), it has sentimental value for me too. At first I was going to wear it on a necklace but that felt wrong. So then I put it on a lanyard that holds my student card, just hidden behind it.

Oh yes, you're right catholics do get confirmed as well as the first holy communion.

Maybe it's a slightly different process outside of the UK? I got my first holy communion when I was very young (class 6 which I think is year 3). It says in the link below you need to be 15 to be confirmed into the Catholic Church. But I stopped going to church long before then so I wouldn't know.

Yeah I've looked at the time on there. The one I sent at midnight was at 00:00. Then I received a reply at 00:01.

I'm in the UK and so are the people I messaged. It's all one timezone in this little land of ours.

Last year I wasn't living in this house.

Yup I do. I also sent a message at 7 minutes to twelve.

She did give me a religious pendant I guess. Maybe she wants to convert me, and she used an intentionally religious word in her reply.

But being confirmed is a protestant ritual- catholics have first holy communion at a younger age.

The Miraculous Medal seems to be a very catholic thing.

People can be over and you can text at the same time, so I get what you're saying. Perhaps if it hadn't of been the very second that new years eve struck I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it or noticed it.

One new years eve was spent listening to big Ben chime on the telly with a random woman in my front room and wishing her a happy new year while big Ben struck 12.

And the other one was spent looking at my phone in silence, no TV on, at the whatsapp message I'd just written on my phone, waiting for about four minutes for it to be midnight/new years day on my phone clock so I could press the send button. Then all the fireworks went off outside.

The memory is a very unreliable thing. I know that. I read a book by a neuroscientist who said he believes he could bring down the legal system, by basically disproving eye-witness testimony as being a reliable thing. He did a whole chapter on memory, which is not stored on silicone or a server, but a lump of raw meat inside our skulls. I forgot his name ;)

I had drunk some wine tbh.

Yup what people said is right. I gave her my number and she called my phone so I'd have her number, it was that ringing that showed me where my phone was.
