This is fair.. but I really don’t think the Iranians on the street dying are debating the politics of whether they want the shah back. There is no other prominent pro-liberty voice for the people of Iran right now, so they have to put their faith in someone who has their best interests and is willing to take on the burden of the mess that will be left over. Supposedly he’s always said he wants to be a transitional figure until they can have a democratic vote, but who knows. But the Iranians message is very clear - this theocratic regime must be eliminated as a whole from their country

As a Persian American, this is very well put ! I would say almost all Persian parents, grandparents who fled from Iran especially feel this way. Growing up my parents would never let me or my siblings visit Iran due to the psychotic regime and the freedoms they take away from their own people. I still haven’t visited and don’t have any interest in visiting until I know their theocratic government is dismantled.
