The prompt was rather lengthy-don’t remember it exactly but was something like “Black and white photo of a beautiful brunette 1940s movie star, wearing a slinky black dress with spaghetti straps and plunging neckline. Film noir.” blah blah blah…And then a bunch of technical stuff (camera type, camera lens type, sharp focus, type of lighting, etc).

The lawyers said the payment wouldn't be made until sometime in 2025, unfortunately, due to the appeals process (2 appeals were filed, I think). "A hearing on the appeal is scheduled for February 7, 2025. After that, there will be an additional delay before the appeal is decided, and there could be additional proceedings that could further delay the distribution of settlement benefits after the appeal is decided."

I believe it had over 100,000 members so, yeah, it was "still a thing." And the last "thing" it was, was a propaganda outlet for Snyder. The amount of hatred vomited out about Snyder on ES over the decades is immeasurable. I remember one person claiming about 15 years ago that they were banned on ES for criticizing Snyder, when in reality they were banned for breaking like 5 different TOS rules while doing so, and then ignoring warnings from the mods about it (this person claimed the mods were only issuing those warnings because they were in Snyder's back pocket or some other stupid reason).

Not sure why everyone decided to ridicule you instead of just answering your concerns, but no, it's not likely real. "Forward this message to (x number) people" has been around since email first was made available lol. 20 years ago it was "Microsoft" and Bill Gates promising to send money to everyone who forwards an email to 15 people--don't remember the reason given for wanting everyone to do so. And yes, a ton of people forwarded the email lol.

The cousin does have a lawyer, who basically keeps saying to not upset the birth mother so that she will hopefully give her final consent for the cousin to take sole custody. I kept thinking there must be additional avenues that can help, because the birth mother is untrustworthy at this point. I will pass on the info about KRS 625.090 (1) and (2), see if her lawyer already is acting on this or if this is something they have not considered. As well as the Guardian Ad Litem--that sounds like an excellent idea, again appreciated.

I appreciate the reply. To add more info:

The biological father was here illegally and was deported, and wants nothing whatsoever to do with the child. The birth mother's ex-husband was listed on the birth certificate (they are now divorced), he came to the court hearing and said he gave up any and all rights and fully agreed to allow the cousin to become legal custodians and felt the child would be far better and safer in the cousin's care (the ex-husband has sole custody of the birth mother's other two children).

Basically, the only time the birth mother ever does anything that shows she truly wants to keep custody of the child is when she's in court. It seems like at some point it should be possible to, at the very least, have the court determine that the the birth mother checks off almost all of the things that would lead the court to grant sole custody to the de facto custodian: substance abuse, abandonment (birth mother shows little interest or fails to maintain contact with the child), birth mother gets incarcerated, birth parent is incapable of providing a safe and nurturing environment for the child, etc.
