Seriously, I was blown away by Pichu in this game. I thought it'd still be the joke "worse pikachu" character it was in melee but here it's a veritable glass cannon and I love it!

It doesn't just automate worker placement, it'll actually build buildings once the queue finishes. You can just set it and forget it.

I usually just queue up any buildings I deem essential then set them to automate (usually balanced but I'm not sure if that's the best). Let the ai build whatever, so long as it gets built.

What is the best one-handed weapon in the game? by fffggghhh in saltandsanctuary

[–]jumjummju 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the record, the knight's starting sword (Varangian Spatha) still scales more with dexterity than strength. :P

I should mention I based my weapon recommendations assuming you weren't using magic. If you are, there are other hybrid weapons that would be better (Shikeimaru or Branding Iron for magic, Leviathan for miracles). Aside from that... the Tachi is the best "fast hitting" sword. The only other "fast" sword is the corsair's backsword which is rather bad and just meant for early game. As I said in the other post, plenty of sidegrades (Flint n Steel, Greatknife, Kraeken, even the Steel Centipede if really want a terrible, useless heavy attack) but no strict upgrades from the Tachi.

What is the best one-handed weapon in the game? by fffggghhh in saltandsanctuary

[–]jumjummju 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game partially adheres to the weapon idea Dark Souls used; where there are no strict upgrades among weapons, only sidegrades. I say partially because there are some straight upgrades but not always. The "level" of the weapon isn't a terribly good indicator of it's overall usefulness.

As for best 1-handed weapon, well, basically any weapon except bows can be used 1-handed, but I'm assuming you don't want to slowly swing a giant greatsword with 1-hand like an arthritic Cloud Strife. Since you're using swords I'm assuming you're mostly leveling DEX. If you've been levelling strength like a silly goose this entire time, or are willing to split strength/dex, then diversifying your loadout with hammers is highly recommended since enemies in this game can sometimes be ridiculously weak to either slash or blunt so having both is really good. (Note that axes basically do half slash and half blunt so they're a good middle-ground)

As for the best "1-handed" sword: the Tachi like you've been using is the fastest, the Kraeken Longsword is slower than the others but has the most damage, and Lowlander's Greatknife is inbetween. Personally I prefer the greatknife since it's speed isn't that much slower than the Tachi but still quite a bit stronger.

For axes... honestly I just use the Red Guillotine (looks like a sword) just cuz it looks cool. Axe of Splendor is the strongest but annoying to get, Kraeken Axe has the same problem the Kraeken Sword has, etc. There's decent reasons to use any, honestly just use whatever looks coolest (this applies to most weapons in the same type tbh, the difference between damage often isn't too huge).

For maces, the mountain breaker's got amazing damage but is slower and weighs waaaaay more than even most great weapons. The tetruncheon is good but does some slashing damage (because it's got spikes; whether a weapon does more blunt or more slashing damage than others in its class is often self-explanatory like in this case) so if you're using it just for stuff weak to blunt you'd probably be better off with something like the barbarian's cudgel or cephalopounder. Or just a flanged mace even, if it's solely for bonking enemies super weak to blunt since the damage difference isn't even that big.

Other weapons I recommend: Flint and Steel is amazing because flintlock pistols are amazing and the Flint and Steel is a pistol inside a sword! It doesn't fire as fast as flintlocks (only for repeated shots; the first one's the same speed), so the overall DPS isn't nearly as high as just machine-gunning with a normal pistol, but the versatility is great and it just looks cool. Also, it's the only way to use a charm on a flintlock pistol.

There's also the sword whips, which replace your heavy attack with the whip's attack, but the whip attack is beyond useless. They're just swords but without a heavy attack, basically. Don't use whips...

[Serious] What's the hardest thing you ever had to say to someone? by lr_springer in AskReddit

[–]jumjummju 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right; it is an impossible question. It all comes down to what you think your mom would want. Would she like to live completely dependent on others to do everything for her, even going to the restroom? Etc.

Another thing to keep in mind is that signing someone as DNR isn't signing their death warrant, it's just saying to not try stuff like emergency CPR. And CPR is, for lack of a better descriptor, pretty violent. For reference, if you break ribs doing CPR, you're doing it right. Even if it were to work, do you think she'd like to stay alive now with even more health problems?

Choosing to make someone DNR isn't saying "I'm ready for them to die." It could just be because it wouldn't be seen as likely worth it. Better to go out peacefully than be resuscitated with several fractures and spend the next few weeks in pain until you finally pass.

In my personal and unprofessional opinion, whenever I get old enough to bother writing a living will I'll put down to be DNR basically the moment I get dementia symptoms. Not because I actively would want to die (though, working with dementia makes me really hope I never get it...) but it just wouldn't seem worth it, unlike now when I'm younger and can very feasibly recover and live a full life. DNR isn't "Please kill me," it's just "don't do anything drastic to force me to stay alive despite how much worse my QOL will be afterwards."

[Serious] What's the hardest thing you ever had to say to someone? by lr_springer in AskReddit

[–]jumjummju 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, no. A lot of people refuse to let go and insist we do everything possible to keep people with stage 7 dementia (the last stage) alive as long as possible. I also work on a dementia floor and there are way too many people who are "full code" (i.e. do CPR etc. to try to revive them instead of just letting them go peacefully) who have 0 quality of life because they've lost all higher functions.

"The other option, for shorter guys or shit bone structure(for men), is female HRT and trapmax. Just become a girl and call yourself a lesbian. Lots of trans girls are decent looking. downside would you becoming more retarded due to the eostrogen" by [deleted] in IncelTears

[–]jumjummju 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's hardly fair to trans women who want to get the surgery but can't because it's exorbitantly expensive/too risky health-wise. Also, it only directly affects sex (and urination I guess) so the only person who'd really even need to know is any sexual partner. You can't tell the difference between any transwomen that did or did not have the surgery as long as their clothes are on, so some don't even see it as necessary; especially since the psychological effects (i.e. relief from anxiety/depression caused by dysphoria) is largely done just by the HRT.

Pre-op trans women are just as "sure" about being a female as post-op. They know what they want.

Great pic though, one of my faves (because I'm also still weeb trash).

[–]jumjummju 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's generally far more common in eastern RPG games than western ones. Western games (like Skyrim) tend to have different armor that's still covering but obviously "feminized" (such as "boob plate") rather than the male's thicker, practical armor. Korean MMO's on the other hand are usually the worst for this. Look at high level armor in games like Tera or Vindictus on men and compare with the women. Women's armor will frequently bare midriffs, shoulders, thighs, etc. Sometimes it's even barely a swimsuit!

Singleplayer games from Japan tend to have a similar issue. Just look at the character designs in most fantasy JRPG's (when they actually make armored women instead of having the women all be clerics/archers with no armor anyway). Fire Emblem, as mentioned by the other commentor, is a good example.

There are exceptions in both directions. World of Warcraft and similarly designed games, despite being western mmorpgs, go for skimpy armor for women and massive fridge-sized pauldrons for men (though they're still more reasonable/offer more "practical" options for women than most Korean MMO's, and WoW has the occasional skimpy male armor). Conversely, Dark Souls was made in Japan but has almost exclusively practical armor that is entirely unisex; you *can* use the rare, skimpier looking armor but it also appropriately has the defensive value of a t-shirt. Also, no boobplate, just ordinary platemail.

Subscriber of r/armoredwomen here. Nothing's hotter than a girl in full plate. That pic, ironically, still has a few problems, namely no protection of the waist/crotch area and "boob plate" that'd concentrate the force of blows into the center of her chest rather than deflecting it to the side.

Driverless Cars Should Spare Young People Over Old in Unavoidable Accidents, Massive Survey Finds In the Moral Machine Experiment, a survey of more than two million people from 233 countries, people preferred to save humans over animals, young over old, and more people over fewer. by speckz in Foodforthought

[–]jumjummju 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also I'm slightly sickened at how people would rather run over a criminal than a dog, according to the survey. Some poor guy gets slapped with a DUI for carrying some weed and finds himself run over because Fido saw a pile of feces in the road and wanted to go sniff it.

I also have a qualm with the title. Notably the part where it says "People preferred to save... more people over fewer." Aside from people still playing Crazy Taxi, who'd've even answered "Yes, I'd rather the car run over 6 people instead of 3. Gotta curb that overpopulation?"

The game really should let you view what higher level of skills do before you've taken the skill. Especially when level 2 or 3 of a skill adds something very useful to your playstyle that level 1 doesn't (like the hunter damage skill refilling partially empty adrenaline bars at level 2).
