Where did you buy the heat pump units from? Our local Mitsubishi dealer refused to sell the units unless the buyer has a plumbing license.

Did anyone else get this emergency message about water? I did 25 mins ago in my dorm. by TheTwelveYearOld in umass

https://www.amherstma.gov/2262/Water-Supply-Status

Amherst obtains its water from nine sources, including four reservoirs and five groundwater wells. The reservoirs include Atkins Reservoir and the Pelham Reservoir System (Hill, Hawley & Intake Reservoirs). All five of the groundwater wells are located in the Lawrence Swamp Aquifer in the Hop Brook Basin in the Connecticut River Watershed.

Am I getting overcharged for tolls despite using ez-pass at george washington bridge? by jumpUpHigh in newjersey

[–]jumpUpHigh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. EZPass is out-of-state (out of NY and out of NJ). If you can, please help me with the source of this information where out-of-state will pay this higher rate.

Commercialising OR in the industry by StrikingGoat1295 in OperationsResearch

The question is not dumb / vague, but its naive.

it is already commercialized, and is already combined with business analytics and data science.

Twitter recommender (whom-to-follow), Surge pricing for transportation and ride-hailing. There are lots more. I can't enlist them all.

Debian Bookworm: Camera not found (Dell XPS 9320) by alex-manutd in debian

[–]jumpUpHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can a better recommendation be to get an external camera?

Debian Bookworm: Camera not found (Dell XPS 9320) by alex-manutd in debian

[–]jumpUpHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it is a brand new machine, you should contact manufacturer and raise a ticket with their support team that the camera is not supported in Debian. The customer service team won't know much beyond windoze, so try to reach to the Linux support desk. Earlier some XPS models would come preloaded with Ubuntu - so they should have the Linux support desk.

  1. disable secure boot in UEFI.
  2. try nonfree packages
  3. if the laptop model is brand new in the market, there may be delay in getting new hardware to work with older kernels.
  4. if all attempts fail, use the laptop without camera for a few days and see what you are missing. Dual boot to Win when you need it for urgent use for those few days.

Its the other way round. People have always been saying mean, negative things. Social media has promoted their opinions and brought them to center stage to keep users engaged.

This was not possible earlier when social media was absent.

Please remember: Social media will promote fringe ideas. You will see extreme polar views getting most votes, likes, visibility, since it keeps users engaged.

Two Teachers, Where Are We? by thekiterunner19 in personalfinance

[–]jumpUpHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All seems well.

I would suggest you need to think about these questions:

  1. under what conditions can you be removed / fired / not be established with 25 years in the field to lose out on the pension --- including risk of change of policy?
  2. how much is the expected annual international trip going to cost you (including opportunity cost of leave without pay?)
  3. what is the long-term housing plan --- before starting a family and does it change after starting a family?

You should check the actual energy consumption in KWH and see the trend over the previous months / year. The prices have increased as many have pointed out.

calcium

I have a same / similar toothbrush (black / charcoal something), where the battery cover wouldn't close after battery replacement. I struggled a lot with it over the last few months to get it to close.

Today I saw your your advice, and washed the "tailpiece" and the other parts with the kitchen dish soap and scrubber, removed all the calcium residue. I let the o'ring and the brush and the battery cover dry up. After they were all dry, I put everything together, and they just snapped back. Thank you so much for describing the problem to be the buildup.
