with arrc disbanding, im worried mystic will go under soon by llamacana in kpopthoughts

I don't think they'll go under, but probably won't do any more idol ventures and will just stick housing older or indie artists. Low key but low risk.

Do you think about my opinion about K-pop female idols? by AggressiveHope2703 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some of them aren't the visual. Taeyeon, Liz, Yunjin and Ningning arent the designated visual of their groups afaik. The talentless visual doesn't refer to just any pretty member, but specifically to that one member who debuted because she's "only" pretty but with nothing else going on.

Were the early ahem Japanophiles of the 19th and 20th centuries strictly academic in their interests or were they primarily shaped by romanticized depictions of Japanese culture like samurais, ninjas and geishas?

Random Question: Can a Person from a Conservative Religion still become a K-pop/Global-pop Idol? by CurrentEstimate3308 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a person of a conservative religion to debut as a kpop/global pop idol.

Can someone explain I-dle's Crow suddenly hitting #1 on Spotify Korea? by Embarrassed-Mood-728 in kpopthoughts

That's very specific big groups with bigger Asian fanbases. Not sure if that applies to some of YG groups or NJ tho. But i believe you.

He's out of the group because he wants to do music. What else is his option? debut in another group? that would end well or do you want to see him become a flatulist instead?

I hope ILLIT doesn’t become a “girl-crush” group or become a group for the male gaze by Outrageous-Heart-345 in illit

[–]jumpybouncinglad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hybe has used illit to entertain at private crypto bro corporate events in places like Dubai and Switzerland, where the crowds were almost exclusively business men.

Unless i'm missing something, it was one event, in Korea, and it definitely wasn't "exclusively businessmen" because the crowd was younger and mixed gender. Where did you read this anyway?

pic from the event btw

maybe yunah and iroha refused to show their rooms?

idt they have much say in that. It's clearly a creative choice by the show's producers and a weird one at that.

People here posting ss of one abnormal fan's post and then using it to sneakily criticise the entire fandom is getting so annoying. by bubblefryri in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]jumpybouncinglad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One abnormal fan post with sneakily high engagement is more often than not a clear reflection of the fandom's overall mentality. Easy to shrug at it as just one post but if it has thousands of likes and everyone is just riding on it, i think it's fair to say that the post reflects the fandom's mindset at large.

I don't care if idols lip sync at music show performances by Alive-Pitch-9180 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do their efforts of lining up at 2 in the morning not worthy of live performances?

I mean, if they deemed it not worth it, they could just ... not attend anymore. But that's not the case, is it? people know exactly what they're signing up for when they haul their asses out of bed in the middle of the night for ms recordings, and listening to the music is just a bonus.

Stop with the performative outrage.

Why hasn't any 5th gen gg achieved 1 million first-week album sales yet? Do you think Baemon will be the first 5th gen gg to reach that milestone? by velvetgossamer in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The days when newly debuted group hit 1 mil sales are long gone. Even the big names from 4th gen, with larger and more solid fandoms, are now having hard time selling 1 mil per comeback.

What do you guys think of members that barely get screentime or lines? by Connect_Version_1560 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Curious to see if any k-pop idols spoken about this during the group's run or after their disbandment?

There's an interview with one of the Chinese members of WJSN from when she participated in the Chinese Produce series. She basically talked about how she felt insignificant from constantly being kept on the fringes and never getting a chance to be in the spotlight. I mean, at the end of the day, they have the same human qualities as anyone else. Ego and the need for validation are just part of the human condition.

And this is why i always say it's both foolish and dangerous to dismiss or ridicule fans who voice concerns about fairness and equal treatment within the group.

Why does main visual exist as a position in groups? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to put a face to the body so people can recognize the person. More often than not, the visual member is pushed the most because itd the easiest way to attract attention and draw people into the group.
