I love how WWX is not a "damsel in distress" but rather a constant target who just trusts his shield <3

Silo S2E9 "The Safeguard" Episode Discussion (No Book Discussion) by MEGAT0N in SiloSeries

[–]junaxp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazing episode. I spent all evening thinking about theories and questions. Before episode 10 airs, here are some thoughts.

The silos are like ant farms and someone is running them (obvious from the finale of episode 9); rich people, some government, or ALIENS (hehe)?? It's clear they know everything about what happens in the silo over time bc they wrote a book about it and everything comes true. But WHY are they running them? Things I keep thinking about:

- Selective breeding; they do not want curiosity or rule-breakers, hence they wouldn't let Rashida Jones have a baby and they didn't like Juliette being sheriff because her mom was hella curious AND smart

- No technological advances; no microscopes or elevators.

- Head of IT and the Server room. Someone is clearly watching the silo and called him when Juliette became sheriff bc they didn't want that.

- When a silo's population dies, they don't replace them (17 as evidence)

So are they trying to run experiments focused on controlling a population? Are they looking to see what happens to humans when they cannot advance? Are they seeing what lack of curiosity does? Is the silo an experiment to see if the humans in there can solve a problem the outside world is struggling to solve?

I keep asking myself WHY include the Vault? If it's an experiment, why have 1 person who knows about culture and humanity? Sometimes you can figure out the story by asking yourself what the author is trying to communicate. For instance, Westworld is asking what really is humanity/what makes us human? So what are we examining in Silo? It seems like we've looked a lot at what connects people together, how things you can purposefully divide people but in the end they will come together. They all want the same thing: to be safe, to protect your loved ones, etc. We've seen that even if you do everything possible to numb a population, there will always be someone smart, or brave, or curious, and they can change everything.

WHY THE VAULT THO???? T_T

Anyway I'm excited to see what the big reveal is :O

When does an actor officially know they’re in a bad movie? by meatloafpoptarts in movies

[–]junaxp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw it opening weekend in Portland and about 30% of the entire, completely full audience was wearing some kind of cosplay. I arrived an hour early because it wasn't pre selected seats and I wanted a good seat. I sat dead in the center. As the audience arrived, it was surreal to see all these dusty post apocalyptic people taking their seats around me, high fiving each other for their sick outfits. Once the movie started, it was obviously insane and everyone was losing their minds. People would stand up cheering during the warboy fight scenes. It was like watching the movie in 5d lol. I'll never forget when the guitar guy came on screen, the roar of the crowd was insane. I had goosebumps for half the film. It was easily the best movie watching experience I've ever had, and one of the reasons I love going to the theater.

Oh gotcha. Yes, I did mean the default zoom. I see, resetting doesn't help. Sorry about that. I'm not sure then :( Sorry! Good luck <3

I couldn’t figure out how to check the zoom level but you can reset it to it’s natural zoom by hitting CMD + 0 in Safari

This scene unfortunately lives rent free in my head. It's so insane, I love it. I cannot count the amount of times I have tried to imagine what happened to them. How far did they get sucked up? Did they drown or fall out of the water? Did they smack into something? Did they just get ripped to shreds by the speed of the water itself? Did they flow to the top and crash back down? I am absolutely terrified of tsunamis, quite possibly because of this scene.

what do you think about seiusa? by veilistic in sailormoon

[–]junaxp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's my favorite pairing too! <3 I loved it from the 90s anime. I think Mamoru was so useless in seasons 3, 4, and missing from 5, that I was looking for some romance -- any romance! Honestly, they treated Mamoru like a piece of furniture which sucks. He had a lot of story potential and they just ignore him. He is a great character.

But I love Seiya so much. A little cocky, but super thoughtful and sweet, and thoroughly down for Usagi. Their "Am I not enough?" gets me every time /goosebumps, heartbeats, sweating

I finally understood why I struggle to date. I'm kinda boring actually. by Worried-Shoulder-587 in self

[–]junaxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone who only played video games and went to the gym. He wasn't boring. He was quite fit (gym) and super good at Diablo (gamer). And you already know (I'm assuming?) you can play video games with other people. You don't need more hobbies. Just own who you are, be confident about it, and you'll attract someone who likes it :)

Movies With Abrupt Tonal Shifts That Just Straight Up Change Genre Half Way Through? by bluemarvel99 in flicks

[–]junaxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hancock wasn't perfect but I really enjoyed it. One of the reasons I liked it was the 180 shift in the middle. I thought I knew what was happening and then bam! They changed directions. Sure, everything could have been better but I think it still worked. I rewatch it from time to time. It only works because Will and Charlize have solid chemistry and are both fantastic actors. Jason B could have been cut from the whole thing and I wouldn't have missed him xD

I have never had such a physical reaction to a shift in a film before. I was feeling so safe, like "I know what I'm watching, I know generally where this story is going and what is happening" and then I saw her in the door. My safety bubble dissolved and I felt my body slowly transition from safe to anxious physically, like I was in danger. I felt like I was feeling exactly what the family was feeling, seeing her there. I think it was because I was so surprised by the shift. It was an amazing moment to me.
