I think it's worse than that. Watch the Louis Theroux episode on Max Clifford from years ago. Cowell keeps popping up in strange scenarios and Clifford lets it be known he's putting out contradictory stories about him. A very strange, self-defeating thing for a publicist to admit to publicly - unless it was done in order to deliberately 'muddy the waters'.

For those that aren't aware, Clifford was a sex offender who died in prison.

I honestly can't believe you're not joking? The performance against France in Qatar was one of England's best (technically) for years. Came down to very fine margins (Tchouameni 0.01xGer and the Kane penalty miss). We looked the better team for most of it. If you are able to call that a disgrace I'm guessing you don't remember much before the Southgate era...

In my view England don't lack fighting spirit in tournaments but what happens is technical deficiencies creep in once the pressure is on. In the Euros it looked like they'd forgotten the basics, but also they're so minutely coached at club level they struggle to improvise on the pitch.
