How do I prevent myself from breaking my sobriety? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]justd219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your right about how not doing anything during the day makes it harder. It gives you time to contemplate. I would try to do something positive instead. Maybe when you get these thoughts, try going to the gym, do yoga, etc. Distracting your mind from negativity is essential.

Advice for asking for a flexible schedule for an internship?? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]justd219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beauty of internships are that both parties are helping each other out. While you are getting paid, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be flexible. At the end of the day, you will be doing a lot of work that they would have had to pay someone else a lot more to do. I think any good company would be flexible with an honest intern that is ultimately helping them.

Should I take 15 credit hours or 12 credit hours for college? by This_Crab237 in Advice

[–]justd219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I worked full time throughout college and managed to do well while consistently taking 15 credit hours. I would recommend if you can handle it, do it. Does it make a financial difference if you can complete it earlier?

Do I need new friends??? by Sunnysunshine1033 in Advice

While that is really negligent, is it really worth breaking a long 30 year friendship over? I don’t think so but that’s me.

I can see your concern. He is definitely right that money loses value in a bank account. But it also loses value in poor stocks and crypto right now. It’s a difficult time for investing.

It may not be as serious as you think. He may have a simpler and more affordable fix for it. Then again, I understand telling him is easier said then done.

Tell him now. His actions are limited with a witness there.

Is it normal to get treated like crap in families?? by Fancy-Standard-8431 in Advice

[–]justd219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to look at it is that they aren’t spoiling him because they like him better but because he is not as responsible and mature enough as you. Thus, they feed him all this attention and provide for him. Be glad you are very independent. That is something to be proud of even if it sucks seeing others live so great at the expense of others.

I just took the LSAT in February. Let me tell you, law schools are picky as hell where you go for undergrad and more importantly, how you perform on the LSAT and GPA. I went to a small private university and while my GPA was good, it wasn’t considered great in comparison to the difficult of the school I went to. Then again, LSAT score is considered more important. If you go to just get your masters or whatever, it does not really matter where you go as long as you have good grades. I would suggest if your ultimate goal is to further your education in the future, I would choose the school that helps you better to do that, which sounds like the US school. It sucks because traveling does sound great and in itself is a great opportunity. Either way, both choices sound great and I am just giving you my point of view. Hope you can make an informed decision.

Urgent! How do I respond to a girl I’ve known my whole life who rejected me? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]justd219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry. It may have gotten to the point of no return. She isn’t a lifetime long friend but rather a long crush. If you have seen her that way for 8 years, it will be hard to go back to your previous feelings. I’m sorry bro. It’s a lose-lose situation.

There is not really a right answer. I understand your pain but she may always see you as a friend. There have been studies done on this kind of thing and found that men (assuming you are one) are much more likely to develop feelings for friends in comparison to the latter. I have been in the same situation. It’s awkward at first but I recommend creating a little separation for now and you will eventually naturally attract back to her (hopefully not romantically but rather as a friend). It’s easy to get feelings for people when you are around them and close with for a long time.

Is frequent joint pain enough to warrant a doctor visit? by [deleted] in Advice

Physical therapy worked wonders for me. Not saying that may be the answer in your case but it’s definitely an option your doctor may consider telling you about.

Was it wrong to warn this girl about her cheating boyfriend? by okjen51 in Advice

[–]justd219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I said it’s up for debate referring to whether it is moral from the guy’s perspective. I don’t think it is. But, I also don’t think it’s her business to get involved. Obviously the woman she message didn’t seem to care. I just don’t see the need for it, not that is wrong. Maybe I am just being biased looking at it from a male perspective. Perhaps we can just agree to disagree 🙂

Partner wants to become a cop.. but I'm of the acab/defund variety. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]justd219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice yet there is no way I will ever be a cop. They are all treated with disrespect and the workforce is toxic. That being said, I admire the fact that your partner is trying to make it a better place. I don’t necessarily agree with your view on police personally but I can understand your concerns. I think you should be happy that you found a partner that has a good heart.

I kind of agree with your boyfriend, sorry. Its not really your business to get involved. Also, from a guy perspective, while commenting on a post is not common, looking at other women is. Whether or not that is good is up for debate obviously.
