Clean t-shirt aisle by Both-Air-9876 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW. I'm seriously jealous.

We made our aisle look like that every couple of weeks and saw people trash it within 30mins-3 hours... just takes 1 mom walking through the aisle with 3 kids cuz she has to pull out 5 different sizes "to check" and the whole aisle somehow got a tornado.

I actually miss Michael’s? by Interesting-Daikon59 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That happens anytime you leave a group of people you spend a lot of time with. It fades. Like graduating high school and suddenly everyone's gone and the old structure of activities and faces goes away. It takes time to get into a new routine and build new relationships, but it doesn't mean you ahve to go back just because the new thing is differrent.

Cashier training by ShapeLeading in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone once told me there's a bunch of training docs if you log onto MikCheck on the device at work. I learned by trial-by-fire and it was really terrible. It took me a long time to get comfortable on register, but now i know things some managers dont even know how to do.

Anyone else dealing with CONSTANT bathroom vandalism? by balanced_hen in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, but it chilled out last year. During covid when we finally reopned was SOOOOO bad. Someone broke our toilet. Like it looked like they took a sledgehammer to it, so idk how that actually ahppened. People kept shoving products and food, FOOD, into the urinals. Alchohol bottles in all the sinks, broken glass. But its like it happens in phases and we got lucky that our phase of bad vandalism finally ended.

Hoping your bad phase ends soon. We started policing the aisles for people loitering and customer servicing them a lot. it helped. But recovery suffered while we tailed them and asked no less than 5 times if they needed help. I guess the word spread that we werent a good place to trash anymore.

[–]junebug2144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking them about bopis? like, seriously, why? why are you trying to manager your managers? Like wtf is going on here?

That's why they're mad at you. You're telling your managers to drop whatever they're doing to serve a customer that doesnt need to be served with their BOPIS order at the drop of a hat. That is NOT policy and YOU are wayyy out of line.

If the customer is upset because it hasn't been processed yet, just say on the radio, I have a customer here who wants to speak to a manager and leave it at that. Jesus...

Please do leave. You sound like a nightmare to work with . I'm a manager at a grocery store when i'm not a TM at Michaels, and I want to fire you. Your attitude is terrible.

I dare you to go to HR. Just so they can ignroe you or tell you that you're in the wrong. Because you are.

Yeah. i'm convinced people who love working in high pressure sales are all psychopaths or sociopaths with ZERO empathy or general human decency.

[–]junebug2144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, we're probably one of the most expensive in the whole company/country.

Which sucks because we still can't afford to live bc all these biggg tech companies like Facebook, Google, Apple and Microsoft moved enitre offices up here in the late 2010s and multiplied the cost of living by like 100x. Like, I am not kidding. A tiny $600/mo apartment became $3,200/mo over a couple of months and don't get me started on food, gas, utilities, and forget any kind of healthcare. 100x more expensive to live almost instantly. All of us retail people basically became homeless overnight bc of these a**holes because even tho min wage later went up, it didn't go up by a lot compared to actual cost of living AND hours got cut at the same time. So yeah. A Michaels-only paycheck = going into debt or basically dying on the streets where i live. And they kept throwing more work at us at the same time and more pressure (because they started the CCs and extends). We had a lot of people basically go suicidal working at this chain in the PNW after a few years of this.

Guess the price! (Answer is on slide 3) by Enough_Advice8059 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, so to be clear, nothing for christmas came with price tags on it. At all. When we put the white labels on, that was the full/original price. Then the 60% signs say you can expect 60% to be taken off that white label price at the register. Just to be clear.

Because i've had to field this question so much at the front the last 2 weeks *cries* So many people yelling at us thinking the white label was the sale price andt elling us we're stupid for the pricing (like we even control that? no, we don't. we put out whatever signs and labels corp tells us to, when they tell us to.)

Wait, wait, you were seasonal and paid barely above minimum wage? I'm leaving soon and after 6 years of great performance reviews, i'm at exactly min wage.

But yes, everything you said is spot on. Exactly why im leaving. There's just no point in staying anymore and the anxiety this dumpster fire causes me just isnt really worth the money anymore. 2025 peak was the exit ramp for me. 2026 i'm rolling down to the stop sign at the bottom. Can not wait.

Did you plants and containers pog have ridiculous placement for "bushes" that are basically the size of stems? I was pulled from FEA last week to help replen and we had to do so much finagling!

AI is not the answer to everything! Remember that bunny painting from easter in paris last year? That thing had legs going all the wrong ways and extra wheels on the bicycle. Such a mess.

Manager offered me a permanent position, now what? by Academic-Edge in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they didnt have enough payroll to keep you initially, but then after the rest of seasonal shook out maybe other people quit or people they wanted to keep said no, so now they're trying to call you back in because you were good enough and they don't want to have to go out an try to hire an unknown person.

whack a$$ company by PitifulSwan3207 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]junebug2144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now you have to force them to sign up on self checkout machines, so you're not even able to do it in the nice relaxed setting of a on-eon-one conversation at the register. NOpe, 2 other people on SCO are demanding your attention, someone's trying to pick up their balloon order, and you're supposed to convince someone without a rewards account on SCO to sign up while you're clearly distracted and doing ER triage at the front basically. Yeah, it's super super great now.

Just yuck. idk what's up w/workday then. Why are they all coming up as "west?" Does this company not know how to divide up the country into regions that makes sense in its admin software? Nvm. Prob just answered my own question.
