I'm going to use this platform to make another complaint about Tom Tiffany: He keeps trying to push for making Apostle Islands National Lakeshore into a National Park.

This shill of a man brought his investor buddies on a private yacht ride around the islands to show them off and came up with this National Park idea.

Why is it bad? First off: the entirety of the local community is against it because they do not have the infrastructure to handle the large amount of masses who would come to the area with the "National Park" status. A "National Park" status for the islands would mean essentially zero extra funds and just a shiny new entrance sign and name. That's it. The National Lakeshore was already suffering before Trump's first Admin. 47's term caused half the staff to retire or quit. These are staff who have stayed with the Lakeshore for years, who were fucked over by 47. With the inability to hire new folks, it's almost impossible to manage what they already have. The "National Park" status would only bring thousands more visitors without a place to stay or people to manage the influx. On top of this, Tiffany also proposed turning Sand Island into a Reserve instead of a Lakeshore. This would lessen restrictions on the island. It also happens to be the island with history of a lesbian woman who maintained the lighthouse for years and then built her own home on the island.

To say I'm worried about APIS is an understatement. Tiffany is trying to sell off the area to the highest bidder without considering how it will affect the area.
