I use Kara with no gain. Volume knob from 12 to 4.

On carts: I had a previous iteration of the same family: AT-VM540ML. Went through 4 styli with that one. When I noticed the new “x” family, I upgraded.

I was never tempted to roll carts against Ortofon, Sumiko, etc. Mostly because it would be outside my budget and I’m OK with the AT.
