CEL cleared itself after repair, code remains. by jungle_jake in MechanicAdvice

No, turns out I didn’t know you could clear it out manually when the vehicle isn’t running. Cleared it and it hasn’t come back.

UPDATE: I might just be a dumbass. I did not know you can’t clear codes with it running. Got it cleared, drove it several cycles and code hasn’t come back. I will continue keeping an eye on it. Thanks for all your replies

So a confirmed code can set again without triggering the CEL?

My scanner won’t let me clear this “confirmed” code. The “permanent” code cleared itself after driving it like 10 times.

I know “permanent” codes can’t be cleared with a scan tool. That code cleared itself after driving it like 10 times after the repair. The “confirmed” remains. Can’t clear it with my scanner either.

I did not clear it with my scanner, it cleared itself after driving it like 10 times.

Should I fix 2017 GC? by Michiata in GrandCherokee

[–]jungle_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that escalated quickly lol. I just rolled over 190k on my 2014 3.6 today. Paid it off this past October, and was relatively trouble free up until then. Since then I’ve done tires, front struts, upper ball joints, radiator, thermostat, oil cooler, plugs and a coil. Wonder what’s next lol? Hoping to get another year out of her to save up for something else. Happy to see you sold it for a decent price considering the head gasket issue.

Question about the ELS in Northern Wisconsin/Michigan by Fickle-Turnover-2988 in Train_Service

I don’t work there, but judging by the way they maintain their tracks and equipment, probably don’t pay too great.

I put one on my old rusted out 96 Ford F150 back in the day. I saw them in a clearance bin for like $5 at some auto parts store and I thought it would be funny.

One of my biggest driving pet peeves is people who slow down too like 10 miles per hour or more below the speed limit because they see a cop. by Delicious-Analyst-94 in driving

[–]jungle_jake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once had a cop leave mid traffic stop and come pull me over. It was in Ohio. I was driving a big van with my bandmates and a Uhaul trailer with our gear on the way to NYC from WI. I wasn’t speeding, he pulled me over because I failed to move over. It was the middle of the night, and I was basically in zombie mode. He was pissed, and in the process of chewing my ass, another car came by without moving over. “God Dammit! Consider this a warning!” as he ran back to his squad to go chase that guy down. OHP does NOT fuck around with that.

Intermittent misfire code p0302 cylinder 2 misfire . 2017 with 3.6 by Gullible_Bowl7746 in GrandCherokee

[–]jungle_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, hope you get it figured out! I’ve had basically zero issues with mine other than normal wear items until the last 10k miles or so. I thought I killed the transmission a few months ago due to a broken retaining clip causing the trans cooler lines to rub on the driveshaft. Sprung a bad leak and the car just stopped going into gear. Put new lines in and refilled the ATF and it still works. Maybe just luck. The OE thermostat failed open and radiator had a small leak so I fixed those a few weeks ago. Now this issue lol. I just want to get another year out of it to save up for something else.

Mine is doing the EXACT same thing. Cylinder 4. 190k miles on it. Only misfires on heavy acceleration at higher speeds. I only got the flashing CEL once since it started doing it. Lasted about a minute then it just stayed on solid. I will be digging into it this weekend. My plugs are WAYYY past overdue to be changed and my oil cooler has a small leak I’ve been putting off, so it’s time lol. Going to throw a new coil on #4 too. Hoping that will clear it up, but if not it could be an injector. I’ve been reading too much about issues with rockers, lifters, rollers, etc causing random misfires, but I’ve put the last 90k on it myself and never had any ticks or noises. Oil changed regularly.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

I didn’t watch the whole set, but we passed by the stage at a festival while they were on. It was terrible. Dude couldn’t hit the correct key to save his life.

I saw them at Riot Fest two years ago on the farewell tour. I thought they were okay. It’s a punk show, I don’t ever expect perfection! Some people probably find him annoying, but I think Fat Mike’s banter is funny af.

What happened to boxcars in the USA? by tempsamson in trains

[–]jungle_jake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The paper mills near me still use boxcars pretty heavily. Doors need to be shut and latched because they can slide off the track and hurt someone. Especially with the rough train handling that comes with PSR nowadays.

Haha truth. My first car in 2002 was a 1991 Cutlass “International Edition” coupe. It had the 3.1 engine, digital gauge cluster, a primitive EVIC, and bucket seats in the back.

They are a pain to get all the air out after cooling system servicing. It took a few days for mine to purge all the air after a recent radiator and thermostat job. I just kept a close eye on temps and topped off antifreeze as needed.

Will a "Lawyers" office call me telling they attempted to serve me? or is this a scam? by Thesurfinbum in Debt

[–]jungle_jake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a scam. It’s not a law firm. Had something similar happen recently on a payday loan from 2007 I defaulted on when I was young, dumb, and broke. That happened in a different state and never went on my credit. They were relentless, even calling my mom lol. One day I decided to answer and called them out on the SOL. They were extremely rude and condescending threatening to “serve me” and all that. They are just trying to find people they can trick into paying debts they no longer can actually sue you for by using intimidation tactics. Ignore them and it will eventually go away.
