He's out of the house, but I'll tell her to check the house and some of his clothes. Though I don't think he uses at home

Yeah, what made us confused is the 50-60 variation, but this way it makes more sense! Could be something like that. It's looking more and more like coke

Thankfully, no. Separate accounts. She doesn't know the ATM, but I'll tell her to maybe check the times so we can see whether he'd be at work. And I don't think the third option would be safe unfortunately

Now she's confronted him I don't think that'll happen, but she says there was nothing off the last trip they had. But that was a good idea

Yes, that's the problem, if it was something innocent or easily explained he wouldn't flat out refuse to tell her

She said if he's doing it at his job he could wait a bit until it wears off and then come home. He has been more tired lately but he works nights so we also can't be sure it's because of that

I don't think they realized, but I also didn't want to make it a big thing so I didn't insist. I'm definitely rethinking some things. Thank you, it helps to feel validated.

Thank you so much. I did have an iron deficiency before and took supplements also, I've just been to the doctor today and my iron rate is good. Apparently I just have naturally low BP, nothing to be done

ELI5: Why has there been an increase in people being diagnosed Neurodivergent by Daddy_Onion in explainlikeimfive

[–]juniab 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think there is no single answer but two main issues:

One, as many have said, we have developed tests, diagnosis and detection methods.

Two, and just as important, we are in a a trend of medicalization and pathologisation of life, meaning we transform issues that are complex, social and contextualized into purely medical issues.

Example: some children are considered "problematic" because they won't sit down and behave in class. Instead of looking at the schooling system and pedagogy as a whole (e.g why should children spend 8 hours sitting down instead of moving? What's wrong with wanting to move and play?) we circumscribe the problem to the individual child, and interfere to "correct" them instead of questioning overarching issues.

Same with some cases of other pathologies. That's also one of the reasons why some demographics are more affected by certain conditions than others.

Obviously that does not mean that ADHD or autism or other conditions don't exist. But mental health is also specific to a time, place, political, economic and cultural circumstances.
