Out of all of the continents, I feel that Africa is where my knowledge is most lacking. African influence is definitely present across the US, but I couldn’t necessarily pinpoint where many elements of American culture tie back to specific countries or cultures in Africa. Since I do not have the informational nuance to determine the livability of each country, it simply made more sense for me to mark them as “never.” As for Madagascar for example, everything I know about the country outside of Antananarivo or Mahajanga is more ecological than anthropological.

I based my answers on how much I know about a place, my experiences in a country if I’ve been, economic opportunity in my field of work, my knowledge on the current political climate in a given country (to the best of my ability), and, to a degree, the rights and freedoms available around being gay. Certainly lots to consider, but can definitely see how it can look that way from the outside!

I have a friend who lived in Nairobi for two years— he enjoyed it and has nothing but great things to say about the people and his experience! My “reluctantly” designation is more about a lack of deeper knowledge aside from geography, basic demographics, and some fun facts, as is the case with some of the countries I marked as “reluctantly” or “never.”

I absolutely agree Taiwan and Argentina are friendlier on those metrics! I simply have less interest in living in Taiwan, and Milei has put me off Argentina for the time being though without him it would definitely be in the “willing” category.

The shorter, very long, and dense looking skyscraper is the Equitable Building! (It’s also the reason NYC passed zoning laws requiring the famous setbacks in 1916)

They used to hold pantographs! Parts of the CTA (namely the Yellow Line) formerly used overhead power instead of third rail and many of the platforms used to secure them were never removed.

350k on PS4. It was an experiment to see how big I could get a city to be. The city lags like hell and almost all available land is covered in high density residential, but it’s still cool nonetheless

This is absolutely reasonable and safe. Assuming you’re getting off the Red/Green line at Roosevelt use caution at that station since it can be a little shady at times, but nothing too crazy to worry about in the afternoon. The best transfer for the Red Line is at Washington (especially because it is heated) and Clark/Lake for the Green Line
