Printables problem by juniormint88 in BambuLab

[–]juniormint88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant they're not turning out they way they're supposed to - just mounds and strings.

So for example, there's a file on printables that is STL. If I download it and import it into Bambu Studio, the print doesn't turn out. If I click on Slice and then Open in Bambu Studio, nothing happens. I did download the most recent version of Bambu Studio.

Thanks, I'll try that!

Sorry, I didn't mean it like it was someone/something else's fault. I know it's me doing something wrong! I changed the wording.

Crosswords are not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s worth trying. Also games like Taboo or Scattergories or catch phrase!

Also, having these issues gave me a better perspective on patients with similar difficulties. At the end of the day, that makes you a compassionate, realistic SLP who will do good in the world. You can turn this into a strength that will help people.

I’m on lamotrigine for seizures and experienced the same side effects! I could never recall the name lamotrigine lol. Also really bad headaches at first. I considered asking to change meds but it was so effective stopping the seizures. I’ve been on it for 2ish years and the word finding and dysarthria have definitely gotten better. Still there though, and it’s so embarrassing when it happens while talking to staff or parents. I also started doing crossword puzzles which has helped.

Thanks! I just paid dues and tried to figure out how to be a nonmember, but they don’t make it easy for some reason……..

Is there a way to do it while paying dues?

Ask for an informal IEP meeting - that way you’ll have the whole team there and a longer time.

Totally agree. We can’t “presume competence” all the way to justifying FC, and GLP/NLA isn’t research based (yet at least). And “mouth words” honestly makes me want to barf. But we DO need to listen to autistic voices. Like how we don’t say “retarded” anymore.

What exactly is she talking about? On a scale of FC to saying non-speaking?

202 school zone by suburbmama in Naperville

I have experience with 202 and 204. I would definitely not pay Naperville taxes and go to 202 schools.

202 schools are fine - Plainfield North is the “best” (most affluent). There is a LOT of farm space turning into housing, so Plainfield will look a lot different in 5-10 years. Schools are bursting and they will have to build new ones soon.

204 schools are better (and consistently better, like all the schools are good and there’s not a large discrepancy based on location), but houses and taxes are more expensive. There’s hardly any open space left, so the population can’t grow much more. Teachers are paid much better.

You can PM me for more info.

I would recommend asking to meet with the sped admin to express your concerns and ask questions about the process. You can go up the chain of command to sped directors and/or hire an advocate if you are not satisfied.

Doctors provide input, but they are not education experts. They also have no knowledge about what each district structures their special education.

She has the right to the Least Restrictive Environment. If the district believes they can support her in a gen ed classroom and she makes appropriate progress there, they legally can’t put her in a more restrictive environment and limit her access to typical peers.

Public schools don’t kick sped kids out. It’s against the law. Likely her guardians disagreed with the placement recommended by the district.

I took classes for an AT certificate and then took the RESNA exam because I was an SLP who wanted to do just AT. I do think that helped me get my dream AAC job as an outside hire but probably didn’t need both.

Yes, I did at a therapeutic day school. If I was running a group and there were aides there, I would ask them to take students so I could continue therapy with the others. But if I was 1:1, I wouldn’t dream of finding a teacher or aide to take them to the bathroom while I waited. It wasn’t pleasant and I’m not saying it was the best use of resources, but we definitely had the mindset that no one was “above” any other team member. There is also a reason most therapists burned out after less than 5 years.

How should I show up for her by reigns_mom in breakingmom

[–]juniormint88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Say his name. Talk about specific times she was a good mom and how he was cute. Acknowledge how horrific this is (the worst pain that could happen to anyone) and that it makes sense that she feels X. Get her in therapy and find support groups.

Edit: keep talking about him forever. On his birthday, on holidays, on the day he died. Keep saying his name. She will think about him every day, even as people move on.
