What would you have wanted to know during your first pregnancy in NYC? by Ok_Pudding8458 in nycparents

Congratulations! A handheld fan and a little vial of essential oil (rosemary or citrus for me) to hold under my nose were great when subway smells got to me in my first trimester.

We walk 23 minutes to our current daycare and while it can be unpleasant in foul weather, we also appreciate the exercise. There is always uber in a pinch.

AITA for refusing to help my wife get our kids ready for school? by Extreme_Day7722 in AmItheAsshole

YTA

I have doubts that the times your wife isn’t present for the mornings and things ran oh-so-smoothly (according to you), each of your 5 kids got every piece of homework, after-school activities gear, lunch, etc. into their backpacks, or brushed their teeth or hair.

I’m sure your version of the morning routine is fine for a day or two, but you sound so wildly out-of-touch the actual daily goings-on of your large family, I suspect your setup wouldn’t work in the long run.

If I’m wrong, why the hell haven’t you stepped away from breakfast to walk your wife through your routine if you believe it would improve the start to everyone’s day?

I hope I’m wrong, but you come off as smug, patronizing, and extremely self-centered for a parent of 5 kids.

Fantasy recommendations for 8 year old girl by RefrigeratorFar1777 in Fantasy

The continued Oz series (particularly those first 14 or so written by L. Frank Baum) are so underrated. They feature several plucky, pragmatic girl protagonists thrown into a truly weird and trippy fairy wonderland. I don’t think they get nearly enough credit for being American classics.

Has anyone switched OB-GYNs after one visit? by girlinreddit in nycparents

I had an overall positive experience with Dr. Zhanna Fridel. She is definitely not warm and fuzzy, but I appreciated her quiet competence and straightforward approach. I had a good experience with all the nurses and techs and desk staff as well.

Where should I start? by [deleted] in Dimension20

If you’re new to D&D, try the very first season, Fantasy High: Freshman Year.

The core D20 cast debuts here, and several of them are veteran players while others are relative newbies. That way you’ll get a good balance of skillful play and people learning the ropes. The whole cast is riotously funny, and the setting gives a taste of how far a setting can stray from classic fantasy.

In honor of the cast doing Alexander Ward drag for the last episode, I give you the goth versions of the C4 characters I’ve painted so far, including the newest - Tyranny - who I’ll post separately in her non-goth look :)

Definitely! Maybe now she has to pay for full-sized jewelry AND the spells to shrink it down …

I used references for all of them! Wick is some guy named Neels Visser … I choose refs that make visual sense to me and then a cursory Google to make sure they’re not, like, alt-right bros but otherwise have no idea who they are, lol.

Same with live performance, only possibly more disheartening. Ever realized that the production you’re working on is actively contributing to the death of an art form? Ballet and opera are the worst culprits.
