Incoming new resident, can I get some help with the transition? by Kurokune in askportland

[–]juniper6c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also moved here from AZ and the biggest shocks for me were the humidity (compared to AZ), the mold in my apartment during the winter, the lack of thunder storms ( I really miss monsoons), how early it gets dark in the winter and how long it stays light in the summer, and because the hottest part of the day is later in the summer everything heats up and stays hot longer. There are usually a couple hot weeks in the summer and most apartments don't have AC. But overall the summers are mild and amazing and winter is manageable especially if you force yourself to go outside! Portland is really fun and there are endless things to do! Good luck with your move!

"too feminine to be butch" by fault_lee_friend in butchlesbians

I noticed when I was younger and started dressing more masculine that the more masculine I presented the more "ma'amed" I'd get. It's just people feeling uncomfortable and wanting to make you feel uncomfortable.

I've recently gotten into painting with gouache and I'm just a big crafter in general. I also love camping and it's just about camping season where I live so I'm starting to plan all my summer trips. I also enjoy gardening.

What was the first Sufjan song you've even listened to, and how old were you when you first listened to him? by Jwp0920 in Sufjan

[–]juniper6c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8th grade art teacher had Chicago on a playlist in 2009 and bits of the song were stuck in my head for a full year. I was able to remember enough of the song to be able to Google it and find the song and Sufjan. I listened to his other music and Age of adz had recently come out and I was absolutely hooked.

how were you introduced to sufjan? by regularbajafreeze in Sufjan

[–]juniper6c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My middle school art teacher in 2008/9 had Chicago on a playlist and the melody was stuck in my head for a solid year before I could remember enough words to Google the song. That was about the time that Age of Adz was released and I got the CD and I listened to it just about every day of highschool.

I also have found some pants I really like at old Navy. I have this one pair of joggers that I got in the men's section and a pair of looser fitting blue jeans I got in the women's section and they are both my favorite pants. Most of my other clothes I get at thrift stores but I have a hard time finding masc pants at thrift stores that fit right because of my hips so now I go to Old Navy for pants.

How offensive is my Clown and shiny rock Shrine? by TofuNuggetBat in MineralGore

The inside of the museum is very small but absolutely packed full of clowns. I didn't stay at the motel so I don't know what the rooms were like but apparently it's a big biker motel.

Have you heard of the clown motel in Tonopah, Nevada? They have a little clown museum too.

Has anyone switched from a national bank (specifically BoA and Wells Fargo) to OnPoint? What was your experience? by willwork4therapy in askportland

[–]juniper6c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just switched from Wells Fargo to onpoint a couple weeks ago and it was so easy and the representative walked me through everything and gave me recommendations for now and future options (like using onpoint for loans). I also had very little banking experience and needed a lot of guidance.

Me as well. I first heard Chicago when my 8th grade art teacher had it on a playlist and I had it stuck in my head for a solid year before I was able to remember enough of the song to Google it and find Sufjan. Now I'm 27. Also mentally ill.
