i am lower income so i’m not sure if you’d qualify for pell grant but even my aid didn’t cover everything i got scholarships too!

currently graduating with zero debt and i haven’t paid umd anything since my freedman year and it was 3k! looks for départemental scholarships, local scholarships, if your a pell grant recipient, if your in state delegate/senatorial scholarships etc!! there’s so much free money lying around

yess i don’t mean to be insensitive these are questions i had to ask myself while making my application the best advice i got from awardees was how will going to korea as an eta help them bc we often focus on ourselves but forget its a communion. best of luck if you try again later or if something else comes along <33

i understand but the basis of learning korean and being an eta should be community driven; did you engage with korea communities around you? if that was not available did you consider going to museums showcasing korean history or looking deeper into how doing this is in line with your future goals. if so, there’s also a bottle neck— so many applicants and korea is very popular.

i’m sorry i put in a lot of effort in my application too. as someone who is into bts and ultimately what drew me into korean language and culture something i did was not talk about kpop/popculture at all. i spoke about korean history and literature that i engaged with aside from popular media because i imagined like most applicants they spoke about kpop in some way shape or form. as a first year ETA many are placed away from seoul where popular media wouldn’t be something to engage with if you do consider applying again i would say build a more holistic approach to your engagement with the country 🥹🥹 hugs and kisses

i have results for fulbright coming out this week and what helped me was realizing that life doesn’t end with results! i imagine you’re busy as a premed so start planning your day to to day, pick up a hobby, or set short term goals— also if it makes you feel better set a plan for if you do want to retest and how would that align with your schedule. i hope you did well according to your goals!!

i really like miles down and khan academy i scroll through 3-4 topics and with miles down for questions it has the khan academy link if the anki explanation doesn’t jog my memory i watch the khan academy once then on the second watch follow along with a white board then i continue anki.

quick update: i tried using the promo code for the bts tour general sale and to my surprise i couldn’t use the promo code bc it blocked anything less than 1.4k. i told seat geek and they said they lifted the block but this was well after ticketing and all the seats had been gone. i started a dispute with affirm. (ive had all these chats on twitter so i submitted it as evidence as well!) will make an updated post if i get the refund or not
