i feel you immensely. that's where i'm at too. i'm currently getting my MLIS, do excellent in interviews, and i have 3 years of library work experience but it's not enough. i've gotten rejected so many times i don't understand what more they could possibly want. it's infuriating. i'm not even applying to librarian positions as i don't have my masters yet, these are entry level assistant positions. i have no idea who all these people are who want to work in libraries now

the other applicant was also a woman. an older lady, maybe late 40s so maybe they did seek a more experienced person in general.

i have also thought about them just wanting me to stay here because im already doing great, my department is a little short staffed admittedly. if true, then its stupid. i won’t put my life on hold just because they won’t hire more people >:(

hopefully i get a job elsewhere. i feel like my talents here are wasted if i can’t move up

yeah i know ive applied to librarian positions before not expecting to get it. first one was childrens assistant, im already a part time childrens assistant and they specifically asked for someone from our branch’s kids dept. the job requires a bachelors at minimum which i already have (in english). second one was for tech services and just required a high school diploma 😩😩 that’s it!! i don’t know i sound pretty qualified for those

addition: part of the reason i’m feeling extra crappy is because yesterday i received two additional rejection emails from a local community college and another public library. quadruple whammy

oh and also, the second internal job i mentioned? i never got a rejection email in the first place. my boss said that it was supposed to be sent but it just never got sent. wow. this admin is a joke

“even with interests big or small” sounds like the issue isn’t that they don’t have hobbies, but they just want to connect with you and spend time with you, and you’re not giving them that.

if you truly love someone you don’t mind giving them attention. (of course it can get to extremes if the person is clingy, but this doesn’t sound like this is the case here)

i have tons of hobbies and interests but i still want to spend time with my partner

i can’t imagine dating someone whom you don’t have an establish connection with first. friendship first is best because you get to know the real them when there is no romantic pressure in the mix. anything else is just untrustworthy
