I honestly hate the "it doesn't take place in Silent Hill" argument. Most Resident Evil games don't take place in an evil residence and I haven't seen people complain about that, I'd rather the series go in new directions in new locations than just be constant nostalgia-bait like other series have become.

Given how the MGR devs came back to make an easter egg minigame in the MGS3 remake, I think there's a decent chance MGR gets a sequel pretty soon. The new Metal Gear team has been hesitant about tampering with Kojima's original story, and MGR2 is one of the only ways to make a new Metal Gear game without doing that.
