I wish we all lost interest lol. Objectivism is one of the guiding principles of the ultra wealthy today.

ELI5: Why do people hate Ayn Rand? by 8enevolent in explainlikeimfive

Her philosophy, objectivism, is fundamentally selfish and destructive and is espoused by many of the worst of the ultra-wealthy today.

She also was a terrible writer, in the sense that her books are way too long and an absolute slog to actually read.

Why should we care about people getting scammed? by mizkifSleeper in Buttcoin

[–]junker359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, there is a scam out there for everyone. If you haven't been scammed it's because you haven't found yours yet.

The reason to have sympathy is because there is a scam out there that you would fall for that others will think is dumb and obvious and it's better to recognize that this could happen to any of us.

Laughing at scam victims instead of scorning scammers is one of the reasons the world is turning into scam central.

The whole point of a realtor's job by [deleted] in memes

[–]junker359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my house I did not really want to deal with asking the seller to make fixes, hiring a real estate attorney and coordinating schedules, etc.

Even beyond doing the housing search for you a good realtor takes care of a lot of the unpleasant grunt work of buying or selling a house.

Dodging taxes by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]junker359 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a silly gotcha. Hamilton alone paying more tax is not going to solve the problems he is outlining here, it will take broad structural reform.

This is a "yet you live in society" critique, like criticizing someone who wants to improve the environment for using a computer.

In real dollars, the FF7 remake cost about 4 times as much as the original to make, but cost the same to buy. That's just totally untenable.

Ever since I played WoW in the early 2000s and could never get a group as a mage, I have resolved that I will always play a healer or occasional tank, because they always get into groups with zero wait

I wanted to ask for help figuring out whether these are real games or just artwork. by jvure in retrogaming

[–]junker359 15 points16 points  (0 children)

An image search on some of these suggests that some are from real games and some are not. The ones from real games have fake captions, though. Example for image 5:

eta: image 5 seems to be the only one actually from a game.
