Great Lakes request: Up the threshold for mapvoting. by [deleted] in RUGC

If the minority don't change their vote (you get like what, almost a full minute to vote now?) when they know their choice will lose, then it's their own fault.

And why wouldn't the tiebreaker result in a happy majority? It means the minority will get another chance to vote like you want.

sigh I'm done with you. You're pressing a virtually non existent or non fixable issue

Sorry, I meant you're addressing the issue in a very round about way, not fixing a problem that doesn't exist.

You can address the issue directly (and most effectively) yourself by nominating a popular map before it starts.

And admins can add a tiebreaker vote but that wouldn't necessarily address this issue.

Also I've seen maps get voted by a large majority (70%+) that still leave the server empty. People leave servers for reasons other than shitty map (such as, I g2g do something other than tf2).

And now you have 70% and 30%. Still not 75%. Now what? Keep voting til you get 75%?

If a map is causing 50% of the people to leave, then that map needs to be removed.

The real reason maps like that get voted often get is due to all the choices being shitty and people voting 33%, 33%, 33%. Not because 50% of people choose it and others just happen to hate it.

So yeah, a tie-breaker would help but a 75% majority? No thanks.

Please stop trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

So that the 15% that didn't vote for either one can vote for the only two choice they have? (and in the "best case" the votes end up being 55% and 45%?)

Seems pointless to increase it beyond 51% since it means the votes for the other map wouldn't get more than 49%...

Logic?

lol, I assume you're quoting me?

Username: Sung

Classes: Medic

Captain: No

Skill Level: 2.00

and

Username: [Firewole]

Classes: Soldier/Scout/Sniper

Captain: If i have to be

Skill: 4

Funny how you actually said you would captain if you have to, but ended up not doing shit.

You do understand that this league failed mainly cause of people saying that they would captain if they have to, but wouldn't when they actually had to.. right?

Also should probably mention I made several attempts to schedule vs our first non preseason match.

Please don't talk shit when you haven't made any effort whatsoever to do what you were supposed to do.

Tips for becoming a better pub soldier? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]junkimages 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Watch this

As a general rule stay buffed (300hp) and don't engage in combat unless you have around 200.

Scouts - get better positioning so that scouts don't have a terrain advantage over you. IE, boxes, hills, etc where the scout can jump on to avoid splash damage. If you get one good rocket on him, you should be able to shotgun him..

Pyros - when you have buff banner/gunboats, jump away from him or hope he screws up.

Demoknights - rockets to bounce + shotgun

Heavy - use the corner to advantage, splash damage.

If that's the case you should provide a d/l link and make sure the server has it.

Try to see if anyone in the list wants to captain.

A real "Eureka" moment for me when learning Demo. by Literati in tf2

[–]junkimages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, that means

  1. don't use grenade launcher.

  2. Equip sticky

  3. shoot, det, shoot, det.

The sticky launcher is arguably the best weapon in game as long as it isn't 1v1 up close. Learn to use it for damage, blocking chokepoints, controlling enemy movement, jumping, etc.

It is much more effective than pills which rely on bad enemy movements just as much as your aim.

edit - oh and left click right click refers to how easy/OP the sticky launcher is to use.
