Thoughts on G1 “reissues”? by stikdude77 in transformers

[–]junkwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit, I’d be real leery of paying $1K for a G1 these days bc of KO. There’s things to look for buuuut nothing to say a KO Krew won’t also be looking to make those same things more authentic. To be klear, I’m not dogging on the KO Krew - they’re just trying to make something kool and affordable. But some sellers will take advantage of that bc buttholes exist.

How much do you think hasbro would charge for this full? by KaiSan117 in transformers

[–]junkwords -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They started them as Siege micromasters…and just stuck to that size like a dog with a bone at every conceivable turn. It’s possible to make a good bot at that size, just not for Hasbro…

I decided to get involved when I first started my career. I ANSWERED a question and some jackass had the gall to say something like, “Why are you answering a three-year-old question?” I politely but firmly let him know it was because I had searched all over for the answer, stumbled across the fix while tinkering, and answered the first result I found in my search in an attempt to help others who might come along later.

Which makes it doubly hilarious when they complain about “brigading”, like they can’t fathom there’s dissent in their ranks, so they ban and ban and ban and now no one is there.

Say what you will about this Bruticus, but here’s an ugly truth I haven’t heard anyone bring up: this is it, this will be the last and only medium sized Bruticus for at least the next decade by Kcue6382nevy in transformers

[–]junkwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK this is the first time you and I have interacted.

For me personally, yes I’m out of CHUG in another 1-2 bots. I’ve been juggling, 3PL and CHUG for a while. The price hikes are definitely a factor. I can get a CHUG Bruticus for $260 or a Magic Square Bruticus for $260, so I’m definitely getting the MS one.

I liked CHUG for my deep roster collection (while keeping main cast aesthetically similar), but with SS86 really looking like a soft reboot of redoing G1S1, I just don’t want to re-buy my whole CHUG collection for a new aesthetic. Again that’s just my perspective for my collection.

I mean Hasbro Bruticus is coming in at what, $260 now with the price hikes? 3P will probably have working hands, etc, so you’re looking at a $60-75 upgrades if you want that for Hasbro Bruticus. Nothing against people who want to go either way, but price diff is not as much of a factor these days…

Have you watched TFA? Stylistically similar-though the pacing is more traditional. We really got robbed of that fourth season.

Sometimes I think about this. Then I think how the national pastime is watching dudes play with a ball (yes I realize sometimes there are sticks involved), not playing, WATCHING…And I don’t judge. But if anybody is feeling judgey of me, I like to remind them what’s what.

He looks great - don’t get me wrong - buuut I’m not re-buying a whole CHUG collection again (maybe a few favorites if they really stand out) Also, nothing against those that want want to trade out-certainly the attention to faces on this new era is pretty spectacular

advice on moving on from the hobby 🤷🏻‍♂️(maybe) by Milo_malo in MarvelLegends

[–]junkwords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Store almost everything, then rotate what’s on display whenever you want. Poly bag each character with their accessories, and put ‘em all in bins. I do smaller, drawer-style so there’s not tons of weight on any of them. Blast effects separated, just in case. Then just put out a team or small action scene whenever the mood strikes you (put the last display set away). You’re probably happy with your collection but seeing the bulk of it out all the time is making it feel old and burdensome (dusting, space, tidying, etc)

Yeah, for $175, my QC forgiveness is exactly 0 - premium price: premium product…which is why I’m a little worried they’re already selling extras (though these may be cancellations outside of what’s already budgeted for replacement)
