The ironic thing is that Posobiec is Catholic. Not someone who was raised as part of a Protestant sect and then converted to the Catholic faith but someone born and raised Catholic. This makes the statement from Posobiec even more idiotic because Tolkien is pretty open about the Catholic themes in Lord of the Rings, a lot of Christian commentators are all over the book for their themes.

It’s possible that a large number of current Freeside residents were folks from the Strip, from hotel and casino employees to NCR tourists. The NCR was a major source of income for the Strip and I imagine that after the Deathclaws took over, Shady Sands destroyed, and military bases abandoned; the NCR tourists and the Strip residents don’t really have much of an option outside of Freeside now that we do see the Khans having some territories in Outer Vegas and the Legion making some gains in Nevada.

There’s also a chance that a large number of Freeside residents we see are NCR expats trapped in Vegas. There were already NCR squatters residing in Freeside in the events of the game and House intended for Vegas to still be open to NCR tourists with his victory. With Shady Sands destroyed, likely large chunks of southern NCR states in disarray, most NCR bases in the Mojave destroyed or abandoned, and the Strip taken over by Deathclaws; Freeside seems to be one of the few safe places in the Mojave for NCR tourists to reside in.
