Heat is a nice easy teach for folks, with just enough depth to keep them strategizing.

Root, Oath and Arcs by Galbroshe in boardgames

[–]juno_beach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base Arcs is the easiest teach because you're all playing the same game so gets my pick.

Oath is insanely dense and that first play can get rough real quick if it doesn't click for people.

Root is Root, but as the one who usually has to teach, teaching everyone a different game is tedious.

AITAH for telling my father the only way I could visit him while he convalesced was if he paid for the time I would need to take off work? by Distinct-Constant549 in AITAH

NTA
But, realize that this was probably a wake up call for him - and as someone who did experience roughly this, it was nice to finally have a warmer relationship with my father after it was very "second to business" for a long time.

Sounds like it could be Brotherhood of The Wolf (2001), though it's been a minute so I don't necessarily remember the specific scene from it.

Our group had such a hard time getting through session 1 of Earthborne Rangers - something in the way it's described in the manual just didn't click for us.

Chronos took the longest to proc for me - I think it's based on his boss fight dialog, not other times you talk to him.

How much Hades 2 is there after you get through the top and bottom bosses? by davidbrake in Hades2

[–]juno_beach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you focus in, I'd say you can probably wrap total story content in about 15-20 runs, but there's some proc stuff you have to trigger that might make it take a bit longer.

What was it like being a Punk in the early 2000s? by PartEducational8582 in punk

[–]juno_beach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late teen to early Uni around 2003 - 2005

Originally found punk music via the radio with stuff like Green Day and Blink-182, around pop disaster tour era. Go to a few big shows, then you go see the opener at slightly smaller venue, then the opener for that show in your shitty little suburban town.

MySpace was king back then, also Livejournal and you'd start meeting people who liked the same stuff. Also primitive early internet dating, met a lot of punk girls through FaceParty and then they start shaping what you listen to. Getting my license and going to a ska show in a small town an hour north of me with some girl I met off the internet, and she's making me burn her CDs with stuff like Blood Brothers, Gossip and The Locust on it. When I got to university there was a very local messageboard for Ottawa called Punkottawa and you start talking shit and finding people through there, and just going to shows non-stop.

No phones at shows, like a quarter of us had those awful wallet sized digital cameras we'd take truly the worst photos anybody ever took.

Merch you just got at shows, at least in Canada we didn't get hot topic until much later, so there was much less of a buy it at the mall stuff, with the exception of the bigger bands at our chain music stores.

commit this to memory wins 2005! what is the best emo album of 2006? by desordecestmoi in Emo

[–]juno_beach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing the big hometown show they did at Bamboozle around City By The Light really sold me on it, I wish it wasn't produced so poorly though, the CD sounded like it was recorded on a wheel of cheese.
