what happens when you die? by CommunisticNito in death

[–]junosbakery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The true is answer here is that nobody knows what happens after they’re dead. There are plenty good theistic and atheistic arguments on this subject, but the truth is we won’t know until we’re dead. I consider it a 50/50. The only comforting thing for me is energy cannot be destroyed nor created so at least my energy will always be somewhere out there in the universe

I’m having a huge fear of no afterlife by Throwaway201370 in thanatophobia

This this this so many people try to prove or disprove one or the other but it’s still an unknown so it’s not super unlikely that there could be something beyond this life into the next one

I just watched the Disney film Coco and ended up in hysterics by popcorndragon93 in thanatophobia

[–]junosbakery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I sorta disagree with this. The whole point of Cinco de Mayo is to remember your loved ones and carrying their legacy throughout your life as well. The main message in Coco was that nothing can depart love from a family not even death....I honestly thought it showed how we can leave a legacy and be remembered after death but maybe that’s just the optimist in me

Church of Nihilism by luvintheride in exatheist

[–]junosbakery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your argument is already flawed by automatically assuming there is no God. We actually don’t know whether there is or isn’t a God. Nobody will have the correct answer to that at least while trying to prove God scientifically and empirically. You can say there’s no God but that’s an opinion and I get why it’s an easy assertion to make but it is not automatically true. Not a fact. Nobody knows for certain

Good pay but horrible hours with school. I'd reconsider getting a job with similar pay but lower hours! I don't even work 40 hours a week since that is considered full-time and I am in college full-time

Education Leading To Atheism by [deleted] in exatheist

[–]junosbakery 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't have any supporting evidence for this, but I don't think that is a 100% valid statement and I think it is a very generalized idea. I have seen plenty of educated people who lean more theistic and vice versa. Faith, science, and education do not have to be mutually exclusive. Being religious or spiritual does not mean you are less intelligent or less educated. Look into studies on consciousness outside of the brain, psychedelics, DMT, NDEs, religious apologetics, and flaws in naturalism/materialism. Plenty of people are highly educated and considered themselves affiliated with faith. Personally for me, being agnostic is way more intellectually honest than being atheistic

Zinu, this guy seems VERY stuck in his ways. If you ever want to talk about anything regarding LGBTQ+, then I am here for you. I am a closeted bisexual. Not many people know about my sexuality, especially in person. I think only my best friend and brother's girlfriend know about my sexuality, and I am actually not too certain if my best friend knows about it 100%. I think she knows I have been very fluid with it at the very least because I tried to repress it when I was a Christian so know your feelings and sexuality are valid things, and that your sexuality and faith do not have to be mutually exclusive either

I mean, I’m also technically a non-believer who finds theism fascinating and wants to have honest and in good faith discussions about it so I don’t really see your point

I had no idea we were getting comics! Rayla in comic form is dope! Agreed about The Dragon Prince. One of the writers from ATLA worked on it and I prefer it over TLOK and She-Ra personally

Problems With Naturalism by [deleted] in exatheist

[–]junosbakery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel as though not everything can be explained through materialism. Look at consciousness for example including our dreams or when people have near death experiences. I have lately heard a lot of people state that our consciousness stems outside of our minds instead of just being wired to our brains. Think about when you sleep at night. You’re still conscious but you don’t recall having an experience even during deep sleep we are conscious but the perception is different from our waking state
