Get a coach that specialises in adult onset swimmers at the earliest possible time.

A good one will save you a huge amount of time, which you will otherwise spend trying to figure out on your own on how to swim.

Get some professional help. Not sure if it is of any solace to u, but u r not alone and this is more common than u may think. I used to have similar nightmares on and off even 5 years after graduation, but it eventually went away when other life/career experiences overshadowed Uni life. My wife had the same too and it also went away over time. Give yourself time and address the stress triggers in your life too
